This is a must have in any collection. Good artists having a good time and all un-rehersed, raw quality beautiful sound right through the mike at 706 Union. However there is no Johnny cash on this But Jerry Lee at this point was just a sessions piano player and had not released his first single.

Cash claimed in his autobiography that he was actually present for the recording, that he was the 1st to arrive on the scene (to collect some money from Sam?) and the last to leave. According to the man himself, he sang in a higher key to complement Elvis' voice and stood far away from the microphone. I'm inclined to believe that Sam had him come over solely for the photo and that Johnny left to do Xmas shopping before the recording got under way. I'm thankful for the miraculous coincidence (or Sam Phillips) that brought these 4 people together!!
