A lot of work here - very useful!

Quite a list, Cisco! Probably on the long side (given how many fans can't get past the fact that these are not professionally-recorded and supposedly hard to listen to -they're not...) but great to see and you have some titles I'll have to check on! Put it this way, some of Elvis' *Best* preformances happened to only be recorded via some brave soul in the audience and in those cases, they have done wonders for posterity. RCA and the Colonel (so-called) may have been too bone-headed to not record his every show just about, but these true-blue-fans provide us to hear some of his most interesting and in some cases totally stellar performances. There' s a certain "underground" charm to a good AR, too!
Ciscoking wrote on July 10, 2011
I left out Houston..1.3.70 AS..too bad is the sound. The list seems perhaps a bit too comprehensive but I wanted to cover all tours etc. and we had many, many good sounding and decent shows the past few years.it was a real flood...and I couldn`t resist adding the decent shows we have for ages like Niagara Falls 1975 or Roanoke March 74 and many others..impossible to gewt nowadays but worth a mentioning in any case..I think this list just covers all you need..
Ciscoking wrote on July 10, 2011
Feel free to make additions, crtiticize... etc...let`s discuss

Interesting and great job ! So: thanks for the useful info. Always El.
Lefty wrote on July 10, 2011
Wow, what a list! Maybe someday FTD will release a few of these AR's as they did with 31.12.76 concert. I was hoping to see an AR from one of the shows Elvis did in San Bernardino. I know that FTD has a soundboard from a show he did there in 74. I lived near San Bernardino for most of my life, and it would be cool to have an Elvis show from my old home town. Thanks for the list. Obviously, it was a labor of love. Way cool!
Ciscoking wrote on July 10, 2011
I have added Houston 1.3.70 AS..as it is the only AR on silver disc from this stand.
wildfishie wrote on July 11, 2011
thanks a lot cisco! awesome list!!!!
Deano1 wrote on July 12, 2011
Great list ciscoking! Thank you for posting it...Three questions...The AR from the Cincy show on 6/25/77, how would you rate the sound on it? Cincinnati is basically my home town and I have the soundboard recording from March of '76 and I would love it if a soundboard or a good AR turned up from one of his other concerts in Cincinnati. '71, '73 or '77. I know an AR exists from the '71 show and that you did not include it on the list. Is that because of the poor sound quality? Finally, is there an AR from his Dayton, OH show from April of '72?
Ciscoking wrote on July 12, 2011
Cincinnati, 25.6.77 sounds really good... Yep,..I preferred the other show from 1971.. an AR does exist of 11.11.71 ES..The Unreachable Star (import) Dayton Ohio 7.4.72 ES is available on CDR in bad sound and incomplete (6 songs) only.. Super Hour In Dayton..RT: 54:12

First of all thanks for this list! I wonder though which standards did you use to select these cd's. For example you mention International Earthquake and Sheik Of The Desert, but they both contain the same show. By the way as far as I know Sheik Of The Desert is recorded February , 5 and not February, 3. I suppose you did not involve soundboard import cd's and FTD cd's, because if you do, the list would be different, I think. Keep up the good work!
Ciscoking wrote on August 06, 2011
No SB, no FTD..just AR`s..right..I have to delete ..Sheik Of The Dessert...,thanks for pointing this out..
Biffx wrote on August 19, 2011
Hi ciscoking this is a great list. I have just joined Elvis news but have been both a fan and collector for 30 years. I am at this time reducing my collection as going from being a completest to more of an essential collector. This list has been very useful in deciding what to keep and what will go. Thanks for the info.
Ciscoking wrote on August 20, 2011
You`re welcome..thanks for the nice words.. That`s the purpose of this list..a helper to built up a well sorted collection of AR`s. If you have a great part of the ones mentioned..you have a decent collection. all in all acceptable sound and quality shows musically.. and all tours etc.. are covered..
Biffx wrote on August 20, 2011
It's been a cracking help I have a vast collection and it was given me a real headache trying to place it in an order I was happy with. The thing is you forget when you have not listened to a cd for sometime and are worried you are going to lose something that really you should have maybe kept in. I have all. But about 5 CDs that are on your list. It's really gone a long way in helping me create my ultimate collection. Thanks for the time and effort putting this list together.
Ciscoking wrote on August 21, 2011
I hope that the admins will give it a sticky status so that it always stays top as a kind of guide. I will update it with new good AR releases.
You Dont Know Me wrote on August 25, 2011
Great List a great guide and essential really!~
Coronel Parker wrote on October 08, 2011
Great list!
wildfishie wrote on October 24, 2011
Let's keep this article alive and kicking. Cisco, will you be updating it as new titles or better sources come out?
Ciscoking wrote on October 28, 2011
Yep..for sure..no worries..it should be made sticky by the admins..so that it doesn`t drown to the nirvana
Ciscoking wrote on October 30, 2011
The only show I will add as soon as it is out is "Shreveport 75" by Touchdown. Reason: It is the only AR - and we are just talking about AR`s - that is released from that Tour 14 (17 concerts in total) so far..all others are just SBs..(14 !!!).. 3 shows are available on CDR only at the moment (Huntsville, 30.5.75 ES and Shreveport 7.6.75 AS/ES)..perhaps I will also add Triple Threat by Straight Arrow (2.5.76 DS)..because of the excellent sound..
Troubleman wrote on November 08, 2011
Great job Ciscoking! This is a very useful list indeed! It's sad to see how few AR recordings there are for 1969. RCA started recording the 1969 shows near the end (August 22), but besides the shows of August 3 and 6, we don't have many others AR that sound good. I read somewhere that Elvis sang 'From a Jack to a king' on one occasion from that period. Anybody out there can confirm this? TCB
Ciscoking wrote on November 08, 2011
No evidence of From A Jack To A King being sung...sorry.. I will add the recent Midnight Resurrection At The Hilton by Memory Records from 25.8.69 MS..soon..along with 2 more updates..
wildfishie wrote on November 11, 2011
I think this article should have a link in the "GO DIRECTLY TO" list on the main page.

Lex, thank you very much for placing this article in a permant place on the front page. This work of Cisco's is a priceless reference in the regard of audience recordings. I'm always checking it out for research and updates. Thank you Lex, thank you Cisco. Very nice of you guys.

This is a wonderful list! Thank you so much, Ciscoking, and also to you Lex, for putting it on the website. It's a great source of information which I will refer to often. I truly appreciate all your hard work.
alanfalk wrote on January 04, 2013
Great work Cisco, this really show that the loyal fans (as youself) can make a big different when they deside to share their knowlegde (and time ) with us other fans, just as Lex and co. do. I normally dont buy bootlegs, at least not when they compete with FTD and other official releases, but when I know that these are the only one available I will start to collect them and for that I will use your list as my "bible".
Ciscoking wrote on January 05, 2013
No problem...it is constantly updated with old releases being replaced by more recent ones...or by adding new and interesting shows..
Coronel Parker wrote on April 23, 2013
Great work and great list!!!
Smile:-) wrote on May 15, 2013
Fantastic overview Ciscoking:-) But I really miss something that can distinguish one release from the other. Because they are not equally important, or what...? The title "Important Audience Recordings" is a bit misleading in respect to how the list appears right now. First of all, every title should be given a sound rating (i.e. 1-5 stars). Secondly, stand out shows (being it performance quality, inclusion of rarities or historical value) should be highlighted in some way or another. All releases from Las Vegas-9 or Tour-28 are not equally good sounding or interesting if you get my point. Whisch one should I choose if I had to pick just one show from each season/tour? To me an audience recording has higher value and is more historical important if there are no other sources available from one certain tour or concert. An audeince recording from June 1975 has little interest no matter how good sounding it is since we have so many soundboards from that tour... So please try to include some kind of rating to your list:-)
Ciscoking wrote on May 26, 2013
No sound ratings..it only causes trouble..and I hate to argue all the time. A good reference with sound ratings is this site....Elvis On CD.com. I am responsible for the contents of the shows there..but not for sound ratings. Important ARs means to me that the shows are of importance to your collections cause they stand out in quality not regarding the sound. It can be that a tour/city concert row had no quality show but to cover each of them I of course listed the best show(s) there in my opinion. I don`t have to highlight cause the shows I have listed ARE the best IMO for their period.
alanfalk wrote on December 30, 2013
Hi Cisco, what update did you do yesterday ? And by the way, since my last comment I have bought over 150 concerts, including 2/3 of the audience recordings recomended by you here, and so far I have been real pleased by most, so thanks again for this list, and for your work for us fans , Happy newyear :)
Ciscoking wrote on January 03, 2014
Wow,..really..? This shows me that it is a real "guide" through the jungle of audience tapes. Thank YOU for your trust in me and my list..I have added the recent Straight Arrows Living from Day To Day (Feb 22, 1973 DS/MS) and the totally previously unreleased Echoe Of Aloha (Feb 13, 1973 DS). Worthwhile because of the outstanding sound alone and the great contents, of course.
Ciscoking wrote on January 03, 2014
