Amazing grace, oh how sweet the sound
That saved a wreck like me
I once was lost, though now I'm found
I was blind, but now I see
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Then when, when we first begun
Too many ages false and spent
I have already hung
This face and flock He saved us by
His endless grace will leave me whole
Amazing grace, oh how sweet the sound
To save a wreck like me

I once was lost, but now I'm found
I was blind, but now I see
Recorded: 1971/03/15, first released on He Touched Me

Not a fave of mine. It's on my take it or leave it list. I'll usually listen to it in the context of the "He touched Me" LP. Don't care for take 2. Everybody and their grandma has covered this song. Elvis' version: 3 stars.

Dont like this song. By anyone. Besides, its covered way too much. Elvis' version is good, but again, its not something I play when I want to hear gospel, which is becoming rarer and rarer.

No not for me I'll stick with Judy Collin's version

I recall being very anxious to hear this song when I first got hold of the album back then. I was really thrilled by Elvis' rendition. Later I became even more thrilled when I heard take 2. That bluesy, soulful rendition is even better imo!

Instant gospel classic by Elvis.

This is probably the most recorded gospel song of all time. It's such a beautiful song and Elvis' studio rendition of it was terrific. The only time when Elvis sang this gem live in concert was during the August 14, 1973 dinner show in Las Vegas, Nevada. I rate this classic and iconic song 5 stars.

His greatest gospel song. Take 2 is more bluesy than the master; both are oustanding. Funeral material for sure.

Sung with feeling and a certain reverance I like both the master and the ' more Elvis' soul take 2. Its been done to death by many artists and these versions are not necessarily the best, but I really rate them and have been known to play both versions consecutively.

Never cared for it. Drags too much for me.

love Elvis' version, even a Muslim friend of mine plays it sometimes, although he denies it publically..
