Stop Where You Are

Rating:
2.9 / 5

Words & Music: Bill Giant Bernie Baum Florence Kaye

Stop where you are
Don't move an inch
Don't come any closer now baby
You'll be in a pinch
Don't start what you can't finish
I warn you what's in store
If it's love you're looking to get
You're gonna get what you're looking for

Stop where you are
You'd better freeze
Don't pull the fire now baby
Don't be a tease
Don't start what you can't finish
I told you once before
If it's love you're looking to get
You're gonna get what you're looking for

Don't you know, you're walking on dangerous ground
Listen babe when I make love
I just don't fool around, no I don't
I just don't play around

Stop where you are
Just take it slow
Once I put my hands on you baby
I won't let you go
Don't start what you can't finish
One kiss and I want more
If it's love you're looking to get
You're gonna get what you're looking for

Stop where you are
Don't move an inch
Stop where you are
You're gonna be in a pinch
Stop where you are
You're gonna get what you're looking for

My favorite tune from "Paradise, Hawaiian Style". This one actually feels like a real song and Elvis' performance is better than on some of the others from this movie (the title tune, "Scratch My Back" and "House Of Sand"). It is hokey in the movie when they freeze the film when he says "stop", but the song is a decent listen on record. This is the only song from this movie that I could see even getting consideration as a single relesase. In the end, none of the songs were (a very wise move by RCA).

This is awful in a movie full of awful songs.

This is terrible, just terrible. I usually don't slaughter moviesongs just cause they're moviesongs, but this one really is bad. The Title tune is much much better, and I even dig "Datin'" :-) 1965 was an absolute low for Elvis, it could only get better after that.

Not one of the better soundtrack songs. The bonus songs were alot better. The song, "This is my Heaven" comes to mind. I would have to say, "Paradise Hawiian Style" is one of my least favorite Elvis movies.

There ought to be a law against this.

By this point in buying Elvis albums, I had all but given up hope for a good LP or even a new single that was current with the times. Elvis had become passe to most of my schoolmates and songs & albums like this were to blame.

I kinda like this song. Don't shoot me though. It's just one's personal taste.

Don't shoot me either, it is refreshingly different from many movie songs and has an appealing staccato beat. - I don't play it that often but quite enjoy it when I do. - 3 stars from me.

I've always enjoyed this song and it's one of just five songs from the "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" soundtrack album that I like. The other songs from this soundtrack album that I like are "Paradise, Hawaiian Style", "Drums Of The Islands", "This Is My Heaven" and "Sand Castles".

Not a great song but it has some appeal. To my opinion most of the music belonging to that time frame was not worth listening to, though obviously others here might object.

The film was bad apart from a couple of songs which manage to redeem some satisfaction for the fans at the time, myself being one such Elvis fan. This song is awful, banal lyrics with Elvis straining to get to the end of the thing so he could continue with the rest of the crap he had on offer. Sorry I can't except that Elvis had no control over the songs in his movies. He must have read the reviews at least ,slating both the movies and the songs time after time. Why didn't he do something about them?

To each his own. No getting around it, this songs is so forced and rushed. Crap in, crap out. Lousy movie to boot.

Not even the worst song of this horrible soundtrack. Still crap though. 1 star.

When I became a fan in 74 I was 9 years old. I just wanted to own everything he recorded and didn’t compare to anything or anyone else. I just loved Elvis. I loved most of his movie soundtracks including this one and I still do. I’m an Elvis fan and understand there’s some poor stuff by him. This song along with This is my heaven, Drums of the islands and Sand castles are still very enjoyable to me. 3 stars
