The shooting stars are coming out of your eyes
They point the way, the way to paradise
I got a funny feeling, I can't be wrong
It won't be long until the sparks will fly
It won't be long
I hear a buzz, buzz around in my brain
But what it does, is bound to drive me insane
At a time like this I must be strong
It won't be long till the sky falls down
It won't be long
Love has taught me plenty, I'm still learning more
Anything worth having is worth the waiting for
Here I go, I'm on a one way trip
Look out below because I'm about to flip
I tell you when these lips get to that kiss
It won't be long until we're out of this world
It won't be long
Love has taught me plenty, I'm still learning more
Anything worth having is worth the waiting for
Here I go, I'm on a one way trip
Look out below because I'm about to flip
I tell you when these lips get to that kiss
It won't be long, it won't be long until we're out of this world
It won't be long
It won't be long, it won't be long until we're out of this world
It won't be long

This is actually a good up-tempo song from the mid-60's. The problem with it? Elvis! What was with him holding back with a good hard vocal on songs like this and Slowly But Surely? It sounded like he just woke up and went in to record it. If this was recorded in 1960-62 it would have been so much better. As it is, the best song on the Double Trouble soundtrack regardless of the performance.
A song recorded for, but cut from the movie "Double Trouble". It was included on the soundtrack LP as a bonus song and it is interesting (like "City By Night", "There's So Much World To See", "Long Legged Girl" on the same LP), but it just fails to hit it's mark. Elvis does give a rather breezy performance, but not sure how this songs performance compares to the vastly superior "Slowly, But Surely".
I agreee that It Won't Be Long is one of the better, or should I say less poor tracks on the album. The Double Trouble album really showed how bored Elvis had become by doing all these soundtrack recordings. Old McDonald really hit an all time low in that respect. When you play the soundtrack and bonus songs one realize when jumping from this song and into Never Ending and the reamaining remaining bonus songs how far from the real Elvis he had drifted. The voice, the production and involvement from Elvis himself.
Not a bad song, but man does he sound unconnected. Should have been better.
He sounds a little bored. Not the best song on this album, that one goes to "never ending" 3 stars.
It won't be long? Reminds me only of that great Beatles song. That says enough.
Reasonable song from one of his poorest albums. Two stars.
This could have been so much better if every one involved had been more committed including a more hard hitting backing. Echo enhances an iffy production but with tweaking it could have been a very good track - 3 stars
I've always liked this song and it's a shame that this song wasn't included in Elvis' 1967 movie "Double Trouble". Unfortunately, this underrated and overlooked song was only on the "Double Trouble" soundtrack album as a bonus song.
I gave this song another chance and I like it a little bit more each time I hear it. Elvis' performance is a little more committed than I first remembered it being. Perhaps this should have been the single from "Double Trouble" and they could have but LLG on the flip. I love LLG, but it was way too short for an A-side in 1967. This one has a groovy sixties feel to it and maybe it would have found some airplay. LLG didn't find any airplay and Elvis' string of 43 consecutive top 40 hits came to an end.
The song wasn't too bad, not brilliant but in the right direction.Unfortunately it was ruined by the appalling production.
While Double Trouble is one of my favourite Elvis movies, I had to look-up which the LP on which "It won't be long" first appeared. It's a nice but forgettable song.
Not a great song, but I don't have a problem listening to it. 3 stars.
Not a great LP, but I've always found it Quite listenable. I think FTD should have just released the whole album in mono. Better overall sound. LP: 3 stars.
Double Trouble is one of my fave Elvis '60's movies. 4 stars.
You know when you hear this that its not a movie song, so yes, it's not too bad, catchy in fact. What the fans really wanted was a album off songs like this. And they where there. Check out Elvis for the Asking (Ftd)
