I will be true
No matter what they may say
I will be true
Although you're far far away
Each night I pray
All day I'll say a silent prayer
That when I open my door
I'll find you there
Somehow I feel
That someday we'll meet again
Don't ask me how
It's something I can't explain
Until the day
I give up all hope of you
Assure yourself this I'll do
I will be true
Oh oh mmmmmmm
That someday we'll meet again
Don't ask me how
It's something I can't explain
Until the day
I give up all hope of you
Assure yourself this I'll do
I will be true

Elvis at the piano while sliding his voice effortlessly up and down the scale produce this nice ballad from the 1973 "Elvis" LP. This type of song really wasn't a great selection for a 1973 LP that was the follow-up to the "Aloha" LP as it's appeal would have been strictly to Elvis' older audience and not the youth of the early 70's. The LP overall is a decent easy listening LP; but when you consider when it was released and the total lack of any uptempo rock recordings, it has to be considered a failure in the Elvis catalog. I could listen to and enjoy any of the song independently of each other; but as a whole the LP is light years from "TTWII", "From Elvis In Memphis", and "Elvis Country". No direction, definitely no concept and a sales disaster.
From an album that only in recent months has been awarded 5 platinum discs for it's USA sales figures( I think I have the correct album?) A song I played quite often when I initially bought the record in the early 1970s but haven't played for many years. Good performance by Elvis and one he must have sang many times at home.
great song from a good session.
A whole album of this stuff would have been better than the album it was on. Could have been a real concept album. Of course there was never any insight or thought given to Elvis' albums. Just get the product out, we have a contract to obligate.
This song was on the "Fool" album, so Shep this is prbably not the multi-platinum album your thinking of. The Fool Album probably went gold. I like this song and others on that album, but the LP impressed me as being mostly left -overs from various early 70's sessions. I remember when I first spotted the record in a store, I thought it was a Camden budget release. Someday FTD should give us a CD devoted to the 1971 sessions this song came from.
The least favourite of the 3 songs from the session Elvis performed at the piano, Nice enough and well sung but doesn't quite grab me like the other two.
Who needs more? Elvis singing and playing the piano, performing a decent song. He could've indeed do an entire album like this.
I've always liked this song and Elvis' rendition of it was terrific, but there really aren't enough recordings that feature just Elvis singing and playing the piano. It would have been much better if Elvis had done this song for an entire album that featured just him singing and playing the piano.
Boring song from a "crap" album.
Nice ballad from a very mediocre album.
Great track but not a classic. I really like the 73 album especially Where do I go from here, which is in my top 5 all time favs. But this song just doesn’t grab me as much. An album of Elvis on the piano would not be commercially viable imo due to him not being a strong piano player. Unless there were overdubs like I’ll take you home Kathleen. But the album is not crap. Should have had more direction and purpose, even a proper title.
Good wee recording, not single material, good OK as an album track. Could have made an Lp of tracks, just Elvis plus a panio or guitar , no backing group.
