Words & Music:
Don Robertson
I told you that some day
If you kept on being untrue
Somebody else would come along
And release me from you
You'll be glad to know now
Your fickle heart
Can have its own way
For it finally happened
I've met her today
I used to think I just couldn't live
A day without you
In spite of the thousand doubts and tears
That you put me through
All at once I don't care as much for you
I'm sorry to say
For now there's another
I met her today
How I treasured each smile, each kiss
You gave to me now and then
Well, you needn't be kind to me now
Oh no, not ever again
Just when the last bit of pride in me was gone
Someone heard me pray
And sent me my angel
I met her today
I met her today

It's a great pity that this song lay in the RCA vaults for four years before it's release on the Elvis For Everyone album. This was an opportunity missed to put it out as a single.Elvis voice was outstanding on this and such a lovely song too
beautiful ballad. Elvis vocally at his top.
With this song I became Elvis fan when I was 11 years old in 1977 around Elvis's death. Today, it is 31 years ago when Elvis passed away and I am gonna listen to this particulary song just to remember him. I found this the most beautiful song ever.
What a magnificent recording that should have been a single and yet was unreleased for four years and then added to a hodge podge LP. This song would have been a great choice as a single between "Good Luck Charm" and "She's Not You" or even between "One Broken Heart For Sale" and "Devil In Disguise in '63. This is a 5 star track all the way...Elvis voice is as smooth as silk and the Jordinaires are perfect. This is the equal of "Can't Help Falling In Love" and much better than some of the ballads from movies that were released as singles.
This is such a stellar song and Elvis' rendition of it was spectacular. The other thirteen songs that Elvis recorded that were written by Don Robertson are "Anything That's Part Of You", "I Really Don't Want To Know", "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here", "I'm Counting On You", "I'm Falling In Love Tonight", "I'm Yours", "Love Me Tonight", "Marguerita", "No More", "Starting Today", "There's Always Me", "They Remind Me Too Much Of You" and "What Now, What Next, Where To".
After the corny beginning this song turns into solid gold. Elvis sounds amazing. Great piano by Floyd Cramer.
Using that tender soulful vocal delivery, he lifts what would be an uninspired song in many another singer's hands into a masterpiece.- 5 stars.
One may wonder how this beauty were held back and ended up as an album filler. Nevertheless, when I first heard in on Elvis For Everyone it became an instant favorite ballad. Performances like this is the reason one remain an Elvis fan! Simply wonderful!
5-stars. This tune definitely should have been included on the "Pot Luck" album; which was ballad oriented to begin with, rather than the garbage outtake from Blue Hawaii "Steppin' Out of Line".
Steppin' Out Of Line on the Pot Luck LP instead of I Met Her Today? What was RCA thinking? 4 stars.
Another gem from the early 60's This was the time I started collecting Elvis recordings. 5 stars all the way.
