I'll Never Fall in Love Again

Rating:
4.1 / 5

Words & Music: Lonnie Donegan Jimmy Currie

I've been in love so many times
I thought I knew the score
Now you've treated me so wrong
I can't take any more

And it looks like I’m never gonna fall in love again
Fall in love, I’m never gonna fall in love
I mean it, I mean it, fall in love again

I gave my heart so easily, cast aside my pride
When I saw you in his arms baby
I broke up and cried

And it looks like I’m never gonna fall in love again
That's what I'm sayin' Fall in love, No, I’m never gonna fall in love
Please don't make me fall in love again

That's why I, no, I’m never gonna fall in love
Please don't make me, don't make me, fall in love again

I always liked TJ version, but when i heard Elvis rendition, it blows me away. 5 stars for his performance.

Recorded in the "Jungle Room" and included as the final song on the album "From Elvis Presley Boulevard Memphis, Tennessee" (1976). Elvis struggles to keep this one together at times vocally, as just some unbelieveable emotion is transmitted to the listener. It seems at times, Elvis is about to start actually crying and at other points he shouts the lyrics. They said people present at his recordings of "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and "How Great Thou Art" were moved to tears, and I can imagine the ones present for this recording were too. "Hurt" opened this album and it is was emotional, this song closed it and it is gut-wrenching. 4 1/2 stars.

Yes Tom Jones sings this technically better than Elvis, but only one version impacts my senses and thats the one by our boy. He throws the kitchen sink vocally at this one and takes one on an emotional rollercoaster, which at times threatens to sabotage the performance, but against all odds wins magnificently in the end.

Here we can witness clearly how Elvis was able to transmit the sentiment meant by the lirics to the full. In his voice you can hear the scope of the meaning at full bloom. Just imagine how one may feel when this cry from the heart is ventilated to the outside world. And then there is Elvis. Not just a nice voice, he lives it. That's what makes his voice so unique. Other versions of songs like this are mostly done by a voice that maybe good, but bleak and pale when it comes to the feel of it all. The full five stars for me.

The emotion, the power, he lived and breathed this song. The "Graceland sessions" were strong, in my opinion.

One of my all-time favorites. Whenever I go to Graceland I don't use the audio tour headset but instead listen to some of my favorite Jungle Room session Elvis songs, including this one. It's a very powerful experience to stand in the Jungle Room and listen to this song. A masterpiece in my opinion.

This is such a tremendous, heartbreaking and emotional song and Elvis' rendition of it was excellent. I like Tom Jones' rendition of this classic gem equally.

I like every take of it and it´s one of my favourite songs of the album along with "Solitaire" ! He should have sung it live ... may be he would have, if he didn´t pass away so soon... I´m sure it would have been a hit on stage like "Hurt" !!

Boring, absolutely boring and he sounds like he's straining to get thru it.

A 1:1 Copy of the Tom Jones Version, but a lot worse. Elvis vocals are so much weaker on this track than Jones. Elvis version is worthless.

How anyone can say this is better than Toms version is a head scratcher . In a word Elvis' version is AWFUL. Poor breath control, over bearing vibrato, bursts of yelling. One of his worst performances ever.

I think for all of you who are complaining saying this is a bad version and that TJ is better, I am not saying that TJ is bad, her does a great rendition of the song but you people need to go back and listen to the out take not the master release but the out take ( Take 5) much better than the official release and more powerful and full of emotions that TJ version cannot match up to. Elvis version of this take simply out does the rest

It's hard to do worse. Bad vocals, bad instrumentation, bad production. Yes, a lot of passion but that can't save the thing.
