Well, I don't care if the sun don't shine.
I get my lovin' in the evening time
When I'm with my baby.
Well, it ain't no fun with the sun around.
I get going when the sun goes down
And I'm with my baby.
Well, that's when we're gonna kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss,
And we're gonna kiss some more.
Who cares how many times we kiss,
'Cause at a time like this, who keeps score?
Well, I don't care if the sun don't shine
I get my loving in the evening time
When I meet my baby.
And it don't matter if it's sleet or snow,
The drive-in's cozy when the lights are low
And I'm with my baby.
Makes no difference if the rain comes down
I don't notice when she's around.
Oh boy, what a baby.
Well, that's when we're gonna kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss
and
We're gonna kiss some more.
Well, one kiss from my baby doll
Makes me hot-
Well, I don't care if the sun don't shine
I get my loving in the evening time
When I'm with my baby.
Well, that's when we're gonna kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss
and
We're gonna kiss some more.
Well, one kiss from my baby doll
Makes me hot-
Well, I don't care if the sun don't shine
I get my loving in the evening time
When I'm with my baby.

Sure brings back good memories, especially the "Well, that's when we're gonna kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss, And we're gonna kiss some more" part ;-).
I love the guitar in this, and Elvis' voice was never going to sound this raw again! A great track.I've read many times that Elvis' was a great fan of Dean Martin.Although Elvis' version is pure hillbilly rock take a listen to Dino's rendition of the song and you will hear the version that must of inspired a young Elvis.
Nice typical fifties lyrics in an upbeat tempo; the birth of Rock And Roll in word and music. Listening now it is too bad Elvis' sound really changed when he moved to RCA (how hard they tried, even recording Elvis' under a staircase).
Love it, love it, love it. A record that always makes you feel good no matter how many times you hear it. Did Elvis ever sound this happy again?
A great joyous song. There is the King in his young days full of boundless energy and joy. This is pure and from the heart. What more can we desire from a song!
I really love this song, since I was a kid... and I love it even more from the new source tape.
And it's "Makes me HOLLER More more more more."
I like it and what´s so great about it is the joy in Elvis´ voice. That is fantastic and it´s something you can hear on Mystery Train and a lot of other sun tracks. Did he lose his joy later on? Possible, I don´t think he did sound this happy again after joining RCA and meeting Colonel Parker.
Pre Parker eqauls more happiness. You can hear it in his voice, doing what he wants in the studio with the great Sam Phillips.
A memorable Sun recording, weren't they all!
Great, Great Great recording. Elvis, the Sun recordings, and what was this guy doing? This was history in the making, music was being changed forever. Just look at the singles charts in both the USA & Uk. In music & chart terms the BIG BANG had started, and by you know who. As Sam Phillips said, "I don't know what your doin, but get back in the studio and keep doing it". Those 'Sun' recordings are all gems so get them out, dust them down, and listen once again to history being made.
Can't help but to love this song!
A recording filled with fun. Elvis must have been a great kid too. Four stars from me.
One of my favourite songs of the 50's. Nice to hear his raw voice and you can feel that Elvis is enjoying himself singing this song. Simple and easy-to-understand lyric powered by Elvis' great voice...something that's missing in today's music!
the joy in elvis's singing is so infectious.great recording and great sound from 60 yr old recording.fab.
A joyous rendition that bounces and drives energetically along to give yet another great Sun track.
This is such a sensational, catchy and fun song and I've never skipped it. Elvis' rendition of this song should definitely be way better known than it actually is.
I hate this song! I would rather listen to Old McDonald or C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-C-E. It is a blight on the SUN recordings.
minus 2.5 stars.
Basically the flip side of "Good Rockin' Tonight" aka a "B" side, period. Nothing really special but serves it's purpose as the flip side. There are much better Sun recordings than this one.
5 stars from me,I loved this since I was 11 years old and this haven´t changed (as it sometimes do with songs that you hear a lot). But I can find at least one recording from every year that he recorded that I like just as much, so I will never buy into the "great decline storie" about Elvis that so many people seems so happy ? to tell every given moment, there are many Jams from later on where he sound just as happy, whole lot of shakin´going on, for instance.
Infectious, energetic and catchy and those words still don't do Elvis' version of this song justice. He does sound happy and I never get tired of hearing this song. This song peaked at #74 due to its inclusion on an extended play. It was one of four songs on the extended play, but Billboard gave the sales and airplay to this song. Maybe not a classic, but if it isn't it is darn close.
Took me a long time to appreciate this song which I felt was too "perky" for a rock and roll song , but now I like it . During most of the sixties this song was hard to find since it was only on an EP.
In Ernst Jorgensen's book The complete recording sessions, it says that the musicians on this track are Elvis, Scotty & Bill, but in the intro you can clearly hear percussion. That is Buddy Cunningham on cardboard box. (source:The Blue Moon Boys). A terrific track, much different then earlier versions like Patti Page & Dean Martin's. Much better also.
Brilliant, historic unforgettable.
Nice, but not as great as 'Good Rockin' Tonight'!
All the Sun recordings are pretty great, and I love this one. I like Dean Martin's version too, but the sheer joy of Elvis' voice on this is infectious. He sounds set free!
Some of the Sun material is great: Mystery Train, That's All Right (Mama), Trying to Get to You, I'm Left You're Right She's Gone. While some parts of "I Don't Care if the Sun Don't Shine" (e.g. "more more more") are fun to hear, the song is not top of mind.
Elvis' best output was always when he was surrounded by people who really knew what he was capable of. Sam Phillips, Leiber & Stoller, Jerry Reed, Steve Binder & Chips Moman. The Sun material, except for a few songs, was all exceptional, this song included. His joy in his singing on these tracks is infectious.
All the stuff that was released during elvis actual sun period is great. This may not be the strongest or most important of these ten tracks, but it's a lot of fun, catchy and original. 5 stars from me.
Never listen to it, yes joyful but just doesn’t seem to hit my buttons unlike Mystery Train and many other Sun records. Better than Harbour Lights and I Love You Because though.
