The steps that lead to any church
Form a stairway to a star
They're part of God and should be trod
More often than they are
I believe in the man in the sky
I believe with his help I’ll get by
My footsteps may falter
My eyes may grow dim
But he's my Gibraltar
I'm trusting in him
Though a sparrow is all I may be
On me he will still keep an eye
Yes I’m singing his praise
Till the end of my days
I believe in the man in the sky
Sparrow, sparrow am I
Keep an eye
Yes I’m singing his praise
Till the end of my days
I believe in the man in the sky

Elvis was a great gospelsinger. Can't help lovin' this one.
I like this song. He sings it with such feeling, and ease, And the song flows nice. Great arrangement.
My favorite on the His Hand in Mine album.
5 stars both the album and song.
Always one of my favorite Elvis gospel songs...Great backing by the Jordinaires and perfect vocals by Elvis. 5 stars!
Recorded when, IMO, Elvis was at his peek. His voice on the full album of HHIM was great. And leaving 'Chapel' until '65 was in hindsite a master stroke. These are all gems, the 60's recordings.
fantastic recording. Love it!
brilliant, every word on this track and even the entire album was crystal clear and a joy to listen to.i to find that the HGTA album is slightly muffled (and i do have a very good stero system ) especially when compared to this one.5 stars
The way he sings "sparrow am I". Just wonderful. He has such a unique voice on this song. Doesn't really sound like Elvis. But then, Elvis has so many different voices throughout his career. He is amazing.
A gospel offering perfect in every way possible.
This is such a beautiful gospel song and Elvis sang it with so much feeling and ease. It's a masterpiece of a recording for sure. Five stars from me. I love all of Elvis' gospel music.
This song, the entire album and add Crying In The Chapel are among Elvis' greatest vocal performances ever! I would maybe also be correct to add Surrender also since it was recorded at the same time!
One of my favorite Elvis gospel recordings. Elvis's vocal is beyond perfection, his passion for this music always shows.
Another great one from "His Hand in Mine" gospel album. Could never understand why the sax in the background which was audible and annoying. The same thing happened on his hit single "She Not You"
