Anyplace Is Paradise

Rating:
4.5 / 5

Words & Music: Joe Thomas

Whether you're riding down a highway
Or walkin' down a street
It makes no difference baby
I'm gonna love you just as mean
'Cause holdin' your little hand
Makes me feel so very nice
Anyplace is paradise
When I’m with you

Whether we're standin' on a doorstep
Or sittin' at a park
Or strollin' down shady lane
Or dancin' in the dark
Well I can take you in my arms
And look into your pretty eyes
Anyplace is paradise
When I’m with you

Give me a cave up in the mountain
Or a shack down by the sea
And I will be in heaven honey
If you are there with me
Well kiss your pretty lips
See the love-light in your eyes
Anyplace is paradise
When I’m with you

Baby I’d live deep in the jungle
And sleep up in a tree
And let the rest of the world go be
If you were there with me
Well I could love you all the time
Baby, a jungle would be fine
Anyplace is paradise
When I’m with you

this is an outstanding and unique song. a gem of its own and a must hear apart of all the hype about the so called "hits"

I love this song. There are so many overlooked songs on that album ("Elvis"). This one, Paralyzed, When my blue moon..., How Do you think I feel. It´s not all about Hound Dog or Love Me Tender

Elvis Presley with a jazz beat. And it works. Magnificent performance.

Something you wouldn't connect with young Elvis, but this is great. A near perfect performance.

Magic! Why did Elvis ignore this in his 1968 Special?

My favorite song of this album. Not Elvis at his best vocal point, that was later on,but he sets a mark here.

this is one of his greatest works from the fifities so far. often underrated, submerging amdist of all the other material. what an outstanding feeling it transports combined with softly swinging setting, a milestone...from his first year on RCA. 10 out 0f five stars.

I'mmmmm. Not Rock, not Blues, not a ballet, not C&w, not jazz, and not one i would have requested, but it is early Elvis, and 5 stars at that.

Magical delivery from the King !

This, without a doubt, is classic 1956 Elvis! From his second album Elvis and corresponding Elvis, Volume 2 45 RPM Extended Play Record, this song is up there within the top 10 of anything Elvis ever recorded. 5 Stars doesn't begin to express the way he puts this blues song across. Vintage Presley!

A bluesy track delivered perfectly by Elvis for his 2nd album "Elvis" (1956). While neither the LP or the song are among my favorites, this track is just different from almost anything he recorded and it stands out as one of the best tracks on the album. Four star song, three star LP.

A great song from his first 'real' album. An album that showcased all his musical styles as only Elvis could do in 1956. Very underrated when Elvis albums are talked about. I wish more of this type of materail found their way to him. It is a gem. Possibly my favorite LP.

A fantastic track from start to finish. Elvis, as usual, delivers a perfect vocal. One of my faves.

Great song, but one I often forget about until I by chance run into it again and then wonder how in the world I could forget this treat !! Just another example of, that anyplace where you listen to Elvis is paradise .

It doesn't get much better than this recording. A lazy laid back blues delivery that was recognised as being real class by those in charge as it found its way on to the stupendous Artist of The Century release.

This is such a brilliant, fun, catchy and electrifying song and it should definitely be way better known than it actually is. It's easily one of my most favorite Elvis songs from the 1950's.

This song gives me a jazzy, bluesy late night feeling. Great piano by Gordon Stoker.

To me, this is Heartbreak Hotel #2! What a great recording, performance and feel! The "real" Elvis! It took some takes to nail it! But, nailed it was!

I dont know who Joe Thomas was but I wished Elvis would have sought out more of his songs. This is why I like 50's Elvis the best. Not only was his voice so full of emotion in everything he sang, he tried many different styles. This is is a style I dont think we ever heard again. The instrumental break is straight jazz to my ears. Im glad he did it in 1956. Its a perfect recording.
