Hello misfortune, how's my old friend "Mr. Misery"?
I've been away so long I bet you think you saw the last of me
Got no bed, to rest my head
No doors or walls or window pane
Now all I needed was the rain
rain, rain, rain, rain
Met a little honey at the "Buzzin' Bumble Bee Cafe"
Yes I did
One drink and all my money and that honey bee had flown away
I'm 'bout as low, as I can go
I don't really mean to complain
Now all I needed was the rain
rain, rain...rain..rain
All I needed was this rain...
All I needed was the rain...um..um.....

This strange songs always grabs me and keeps on wandering through my head for hours.
I was quite attracted to it when I first heard it on what was the albums name? Flaming Star? One of these Camdens...It's a quite unusual tune (from Stay Away Joe?) or let's say: a nice filler, still better than Dominique...
I remember buying the Flaming Star album the first album of Elvis on a budget label in the UK. This particular track was never a favourite and after a recent play I still don't like the song. As Lex pointed out it is a strange song errie even
I always loved the song.. don't know why.. maybe coz english is not my motherlanguage. so as a kid in the past( still I am a kid LOL) I loved almost every elvis song.
I like it. Blusey eerie. Very strange song but sung very well. Wish it was longer.
Way too short but still a nice song. One of the better moviesongs.
Elvis at his sublime best! Deserves to be better known. It's not a filler as it has too much class: bluesy and understated.
I actually like this song. There's great mood in it, but a little bit strange for a movie song. A forgotten and underrated song that deserves better.
It's short. It's a movie song written to fit a particular scene (which it does perfectly). There weren't many "long" movie songs. Most ran 2 to 2 and half minutes (some shorter). The idea was sing the song, advance the action and move on. I really like this song.
I have heard2 versions. The 1st version I really love. He seemed to have a lot of feeling in this particular reording. On the 2nd recording I pi tured a typical recording session at that time. I am not disappointed!
A real bluesy feel to this one that other movie songs like "City By Night" never quite captures. This song is from the movie "Stay Away Joe" and another song similar to "Stay Away" as it was treated like a secondary track. When in fact, these two songs were far better than any of the "Double Trouble" tracks and in another league when compared to the soundtracks of "Kissin' Cousins", "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" and "Harum Scarum".
Good song, better than most of the 60s film songs.
I like it. And we can find a 3 minutes long version in You Tube, that makes it very enjoyable.
Never liked the song on the Flaming Star album until I saw the movie clip much later. The song fits in well with the scene where there is plenty of humour from Elvis and his doggie chums.
A very cool bluesy acoustic track with nice harmonica and a great vocal by the King. Now and then the movies tried a blues-type track and this might be the best of them (Hard Luck is the other one I immediately think of, probably because of the harmonica). I also wish it was longer, and I really wish they had not put all those dogs in the scene with him. The dogs always remind me of the scene in Paradise Hawaiian Style in the helicopter when he sings "A Dog's Life." And this is far superior. This is a great little song.
really like this song elvis's vocal captures the mood of the song it really is atmospheric.4 stars
A top notch movie song with a great blues feel that has only one drawback, which is that it should have been at least a minute longer.
Elvis could sing the blues like no one else; great harmonica from Charlie McCoy who played several instruments on Elvis records (and Bob Dylans for that matter).
Sometimes I wonder while listening to this song: would that bluesy power be strengthened or weakened by a longer version. It it such a wonderful song that I rewind and play it again. Yet it is that capture of the moment that intrigues most. And what to say about his unique voice. It's the high class combination that makes it stick to the mind.
I've always liked this bluesy song and it's one of many hundreds of very little known gems that Elvis recorded.
What a great tune and I only discovered it a few weeks ago while watching 'Stay Away Joe.' The song fits the scene perfectly. Glad I finally watched the movie!
RCA/SONY should combine the songs "Nothingville" & "All I Needed Was The Rain" to create a fine bluesy medley.
Great song, it's one of my favorites, as well as hard luck. It's a shame that Sony and FTD do not get much publicity from these songs.
After Easy Come Easy Go, Double Trouble and Clambake, the movie era was closing in. Even so, I think the soundtrack recordings for his final six movies were so much better. The songs were fewer, but so much better performed by El. This one included. I have always liked this song! Pity it was so short, because it is one of those one would want to hear more of.
