Jerry, I hear what you're saying (I'm against all the never-ending re-compilations) but as a "desert island" disc that would boil down his legacy, this is one of the best single disc Elvis comps *ever* in a sense. The larger box set had the great wisdom of not just sticking to his chart hits but also including the legacy of critical and fan favorites. It's a very striking track-list as a result. I occasionally check out what CD's are in U.S. libraries and often it's the "30 #1 Hits" but I have to say that this one might be much more representative for a novice checking out Elvis hits for the first time. There's "no fat" in the great compilation, as shop-worn as some of the hits may have become to us.
