I for one are really looking forward to this release as it’s the first time to my knowledge this has been released in vinyl ?
I’ve recently gone back to collecting vinyl now order all the new releases on the shiny black plastic
And generally have stopped having cds
If it’s a box set for keep you digital for rest of the tracks
This album cover is my favourite Elvis Xmas album cover of all time what a great and eye catching cover the best Xmas album cover since the re issue of the original in the uk with that amazing striped shirt close up
The cover says it all its Xmas abs there is a superb shot if elvis looking at the peak of his powers in the front which on the cd cases was completely wasted my only gripe is SONY should have made this re release on vinyl a gatefold sleeve you can pre order now on Amazon

Gorse: Elvis is in a class by himself. I would expect some preferential treatment from the record company even though the $ sign dictates most of the time if not all the time. Sony is a very big company which owns basically all US media so it's not surprising that we do not see the types of releases that we got in the 90's like the box sets, the video of lost performances etc. I think that with the proper marketing strategy Elvis could be some sort of relevant. I think we all agree that by releasing box sets worth approximately 500$ does not help the cause.

Psilopechtris (that’s a challenge to spell before starting) Of course he is becoming more and more irrelevant as we know he has been gone for 43 years. Even I, a dyed in the wool Presley fan and always will be, follow daily reactions on You Tube to Dimash, Angelina Jordan, Floor Jansen, Diana Ankudinova etc as they are living, new and now. There are a few reactors that keep the Elvis flag going, and most are our black brothers, who latch on to In the Ghetto and If I Can dream (for obvious current reasons) pay deep respect to this white man, and then move on to the regular standouts like Suspicious Minds. They comment in their style, things like what a cool dude, great suits, love the rings, he can move, love the voice etc. These are guys that didn’t know or ever hear Jailhouse Rock nor the name of his wife. Music is so varied nowadays and open to all, and though a bio will gain a lot of interest and a small core of new fans, itt will fade again in a matter of a couple of years. RPO albums which I liked was not well received on this forum by many trying to give something new, and the remix album 'Guitar Man' which to my mind was brilliant, was also given the thumbs down by many so where do we go. Past giants of the industry like Sinatra and Crosby are on a much lower level than Presley and barely get a mention, which is a shame but that is the way things inevitably go, and will happen to todays stars.

Furthermore I would add that Elvis is no longer relevant with today's music listeners. I remember all the hype back in the 1990's when RCA/Sony were releasing all those boxsets. The Beatles, Neil Diamond, etc get some sort of airplay on regular radio stations. Not the case with Elvis. In general, I believe that the record company has changed its marketing strategy for Elvis. Unforetunately not for the better.

I just can´t believe what they, sony, do with Elvis. What I know is that this is the wrong way to release his music to the people. Elvis popularity is dying from year to year.

I just checked Amazon again yesterday. As I've mentioned the original CD of this item is still listed. There is however a listing for this item on vinyl dated 2020. You can pre order now.

JerryNodak: Probably they hired some new person who has no clue of what's been previously released or is too lazy to research the catalogue of the most important entertainer of all time!
Gorse (profilecontact) wrote on Sep 6, 2020report abuse
JerryNodak -perhaps they delete it on 30 September and then re-release 2 days after. This started off as a tongue in cheek comment but on reflection who knows what can happen in these unprecedented times.

Why are they re-releasing this? The last time I checked Amazon, which was recently, the original was still available. I have it in my Christmas collection.

I don't think this is a release for long established fans, we have seen this stuff over and over again. But there's nothing wrong with re-releasing for the new market. Keeping His name alive and his catalogue available is a good thing IMO.

.. and I would even say that this is just a matter of $$$ as always !

I just do not like Elvis being "matched" with other singers ... on his own and very personal recordings !
It is a great shame. We are talking about Elvis Presley, here, and not other so and so interpretators ...

And I maintain my opinion !

Cruiser621: break accorded ! (LOL)

Why? Absolutely ridiculous, the constant reissuing of the same tunes just re-arranged differently. Give me a break!

Just what I needed. The 1737th release of The Christmas Album!
