You Can't Say No in Acapulco

Rating:
3.7 / 5

Words & Music: Dolores Fuller Sid Feller Lee Morris

You can't say no, in Acapulco
With every beat your heart will answer yes
Where lovers sing instead of talk
And dance instead of walk together
In a night, that's filled with stars
And strumming guitars

You can't say no, in Acapulco
Where romance blooms, and love is in the air
So kiss me tender, love me true
Darling feel this magic too
Don't say no, you can't say no, in Acapulco

You can't say no, in Acapulco
Where romance blooms, and love is in the air
So kiss me tender, love me true
Darling feel this magic too
Don't say no, you can't say no, in Acapulco

Don't say no...you can't say no, in Acapulco

Another breezy, yet very enjoyable song from "Fun In Acapulco". Elvis is in fine voice and makes this one you want to listen to over and over. This was the last of the really good soundtrack LP's from a peformance and production perspective. "Roustabout", "Spinout", "Girl Happy" and "Frankie And Johnny" were good, but the production values were not as high and Elvis did not sound as good or as interested (He still sounded good, but a spark was missing on his voice).

It's a song from a musical style movie. It is quite nice and it is fun. When I was a young kid I could not really understand the lyrics. I just enjoyed listening to his beautiful voice. I didn't care and I still don't whether it is yes or no. I enjoyed the movie too.

"You can't say No in Acapulco" is a nice pleasant movie song, with Elvis Presley, in great vocal form. And although, Its not a Rock-n-Roll classic, its a real nice song, which, fits well in the film. Sadly the critics, and some fans, knock Elvis, for some of his song and movie choices, but all in all, he did real well.

Fun in Acapulco is one of his better movies and soundtrack albums, very enjoyable. Elvis had a wonderful voice and style of delivery on these soundtrack recordings and You can't say no in Acapulco is not an exception. I have been in Acapulco and Guadalajara and during a local festival they actually sung the the track that Elvis recorded for this movie with the same title. Just to highlight this movie was really into local music and great fun. Three stars for this song from me.

This is what a movie soundtrack should be like . Something that compliments the movie Granted there are some lightweight songs but they mainly add to the plot, or the mood of a scene. Blue Hawaii and GI Blues also served the function well. An album like this a year along with good solid singles and 1 or 2 good studio albums ,and a good dramatic role each year would have advanced Elvis career. The problem started when we got nothing but Soundtracks -during 65 -67. But thats anchient history now. Still, I like the album and this is a pretty good song.

Fun in Acapulco reached #5 on the Variety weekly chart and #33 overall for the year. This is one of Elvis' better movies, and it's a typical feelgood-movie of the time. Elvis looks great in the movie, and there's so many good songs from the movie as well, This one is one of my favorites, along with "I think I'm gonna like it here", "Mexico" and "Vino Dinero..." to name a few. The title track is also very enjoyable, perfect for a summer evening in the garden with a glass of wine - enjoying the sunset :-)

I can't say no. The "Fun In Acapulco" movie and LP are one of my favorite Elvis periods. Exotic location, lovely people and Elvis. What more can you ask for.

I am another fan of this soundtrack and the change in the music origins, which is always welcome if done well. This is not the best ballad in the world but it is very pleasant, tuneful and fits snugly into the overall feel of the album.

A nice ballad, sung very well. Well respected session drummer Hal Blaine is on this one.

I like this song and the whole album. It sounds great and the songs are generally of high quality and fit the film nicely. It is also one of the more enjoyable films.

I've always liked this movie ballad immensely and I've never skipped it. Elvis' rendition of it was spectacular. Five stars from me. It's from one of my ten most favorite Elvis movies. I like every song from the movie too.

A very appealing light ballad from Fun In Acapulco. Again not great but a pleasant, enjoyable tune.

It is a very nice ballad and not least well sung by Elvis. Actually all the songs from the soundtrack were beautifully sung by our man! And I really like the album, always have. The movie too! The soundtrack sound so much better than Blue Hawaii, sonic wise!

Not a bad recording for a movie soundtrack song. After 'Fun' it was downhill apart from a few bonus tracks

Always a bit of a sucker when it comes to Elvis’s soundtrack material. Yes there’s some bad ones but there’s bad 50’s and 70’s studio songs. Fun in Acapulco is a great, fun soundtrack, produced well and sung perfectly. This song is one of the best along with the title song, Mexico and Bossa Nova. Never skip
