Ku-u-i-po I love you more today
More today than yesterday
But I love you less today
Less than I will tomorrow
See the sweet Hawaiian rose
See it blossom see it grow
That's the story of our love
Ever since we said hello
As the years go passing by
We'll recall our wedding day
I will be there by your side
You will always hear me say
Ku-u-i-po, you're my Hawaiian sweetheart

I keep on repeating myself. I like his singing. I'm not sure withch version I like best. The blue Hawaii or the Aloha version.
The 2nd best ballad on the "Blue Hawaii" soundtrack and that is saying something because this LP is loaded with some strong ballads. Elvis sings this one with sincerity and his vocals are beautiful. Elvis did a good job with it again in '73 for the "Aloha" special even though you can tell from the outtakes that Elvis would have rathered been shot then to have to re-record the five songs he recorded after the show.
Strictly for schmaltz lovers. No substance or soul at all. Except for a few songs, the Blue Hawaii LP is a bore. Elvis probably hated re-recording this for the TV show in 1973. Yeah you can tell he does.
Elvis will always be associated with hawaii,it was 1 of his biggest selling album, and almost everyone i know knows this movie. I also like this one and the album,Elvis in very fine voice and when i bought the mahalo album i liked those versions even better.
I guess I'm a schmaltz lover because I love this song, the soundtrack album AND the movie.
It was 1961 and Elvis was unbeatable. Hit singles with nearly everyone getting to #1, same with his albums plus a few live shows to follow his appearance on Tv in 1960. GI Blues showed what Elvis may be able to do with a musical film, then came Blue Hawaii, Elvis showed the world what he could do in a big musical. The soundtrack hit #1 all over the globe plus a big double sided hit single. The album was full of great recordings, just right for this movie and Ku-u-i-po was a perfect choice. Great time to be an Elvis fan, I should know, I was one then, and still am. Often play my copy of Blue Hawaii {ftd}, last time was this morning.
A good film and soundtrack a pleasant ballad too.
Fine song.Good film particlarly when he sings "Beach Boy Blues" & Rock A Hula Baby" the old hip shakin' Elvis.
I thought Angela Lansbury was unkind when she said that BH was a low life in her career....has she never watched "Murder She Wrote" then ? I have gone off her since.
This gets 4 stars! I guess to some if Elvis sang it it automatically gets 4 stars. So I guess Petunia, He's Your Uncle, Ito sucks err Eats also must deserve 4 stars. I guess i should not be surprised. The big surprise is it didn't get 5 stars.
This is such a beautiful ballad and it's easily one of my most favorite songs that Elvis ever recorded.
Yes I really like this song and the laid back holiday island atmosphere it conveys. A lovely melody that leaves you feeling good, with Elvis using his silky ballad voice.
A nice ballad. The Blue Hawaii version is slightly better than the Aloha version.
I would rank this song just a few points behind, "Cant Help Falling In Love" for pure beauty and romanticism. Wonderful recording. Largely forgotten it deserves better.
This is a fine ballad and Elvis sang it with feeling. Besides this, with this song my wife and me felt in love about 35 years ago, so it has a particular meaning to me.
A very nice ballad from a period where elvis voice was in his prime. The sound isn't as great as on the nashville-recordings from that era, but not too bad either. Overall, well, i like it. It's one of two real highlights from the blue hawaii soundtrack. 5 stars.
5-stars, period. This is one of the best songs from the "Blue Hawaii" soundtrack album, released back in 1961 I believe, but I think a better title would have been "My Hawaiian Sweetheart" which I believe it translates into. Great song.
Well I’m gonna join JerryNodak in shmultzville
because I too love this and everything Blue Hawaii…even Eto Eats!
I like rock, blues, country, gospel, tex-mex, cajun. I like schmalz. I like Ku-u-i-po. Three stars.
Steve V can be very critical as an Elvis fan, as he's clearly outnumbered here. I second that Milky White Way and bluesboy, schmaltzville here I come. One of the best Blue Hawaii ballads.
