In a Dutch interview Cash said he could hear his voice, but he was singing higher, because Perkins sang lower. Maybe, wishful thinking by Cash.

Carl Perkins sings the version on the "Million Dollar Quartet" sessions but ELVIS sings a few bars as well. I love the "Million Dollar Quartet" album. ELVIS' voice was in top form as are the other legends. Johnny Cash wasn't actually on the album unless there is a tape somewhere that hasn't been discovered.
