Don't look so sad, I know it's over
But life goes on and this old world will keep on turning
Let's just be glad we had some time to spend together
There's no need o watch the bridges that we're burning

Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops fallin' soft against the window
And make believe you love me one more time

For the Good times
I'll get along, you'll find another
And I'll be here if you should find you ever need me
Don't say a word about tomorrow or forever
There'll be time enough for sadness when you leave me

Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops fallin' soft against the window
And make believe you love me one more time

For the good times
For the good times
Recorded: 1972/06/10, first released on Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden

Both the MSG and studio versions are some of the best ‘countrypolitan’ you will ever hear!

First Elvis version I heard was on the MSG LP. 3 stars. Then came the studio version. 3 stars. Elvis does a solid, professional job on these versions, They're well sung, but don't impress my ears as anything special.

It's quite nice, not much to complain about, but i don't think, that elvis really gives this the ultimate rendition. The msg version, the version people heard first trom elvis, isn't the greatest of his renditiona either. Overall; a fine song, very listenable in elvis version, but nothing that really pushed elvis legacy to a new level, nothing that anyone outside the elvis-universe remembers. Standard 70's ballading from the king which is fair enough. 3 stars.

This is one of his best ballads he did in the 1970's; a 5-star song all the way.

Strange that RCA didn't use the unreleased '72 studio version on their 1977 album, Welcome To My World.

This is a great tune from a top composer. The best version, for me and a true master piece is the one Elvis sings in Birmingham 29/12/1976, where he slows the tempo a little bit and sings it with such a feeling that it burns out the stage! What a rendition! One of the many extraordinary highlights from that 5 days tour and concerts.

This is such a beautiful song and my favorite Elvis rendition of it is the studio version. Elvis always sang this classic gem so magnificently. This is one of three songs that Elvis recorded that was written by the legendary Kris Kristofferson. 5 Stars

The studio version of this song, can be found on the "Walk A Mile In My Shoes -The Essential 70's Masters"-CD boxset and on the "Burning Love CD", And I think the studio versions, are the best versions of this song. And why the studio version (as it was, with the song "My Way") wasn't released until the 90s, is beyond comprehension. Elvis was singing the songs on tour, for years, and I bet he thought the "studio versions" had been released on albums. We first heard these songs as "Live recordings" on the Madison Square Garden and Aloha from Hawaii albums. Elvis always did a nice job, on the song "For the Good times" (and on "My Way" too !)

Nice song, not more than that. Until I’ve heard the '76 Birmingham version! Just sublime. A master piece and one of the highlights of that particular concert. How great Elvis was in concert.

What a beautiful song, what a great rendition by Elvis, how he could convey such feeling in his ballads with that warm and tender voice - 5 stars from me.

I always liked the MSG version that first came out; but I think I might like the studio version that came out years later a little better. Either way, it is a well-written song that Elvis sings superbly. 4 stars.

A much covered Kris Kristofferson song. I don't think that Elvis' version added anything to the song which I have always thought a bit of a dirge.

One of the best Adult Contemporary songs for Elvis in the 70's.

I have always liked the song. And when I first heard Elvis' Garden version I liked it even more. I like the studio version he made also! Good song, good performance by Elvis. Would have liked James' guitar solo on the studio version also!
