From Elvis In Memphis

December 07, 2021 | Music

A re-issue of the 2009 Legacy Edition 2-CD Edition of Elvis' classic 1969 LP 'From Elvis In Memphis' appeared on the Polish on-line Fan shop and the Music on CD websites. Release-date: January 28, 2022.

Publicity stated: ‘From Elvis In Memphis’ was a hit  album in 1969. Here Elvis is approaching his peak as an artist having made his glorious 1968 T.V. special. 'From Elvis In Memphis' continues in the same vein. 'Inherit The Wind' and 'This Is The Story' rank alongside 'True Love Travels On A Gravel Road'. These are probably The King’s two best studio records.

The legacy edition including 14 bonus tracks then concludes with a run through of the Elvis Presley singles from that time like 'Mama Liked The Roses', 'Suspicious Minds', 'Don’t Cry Daddy', 'Rubberneckin'' (original version) and 'Kentucky Rain'. Individually the albums were fantastic, put them together on this legacy set with the extras, and you have an unsurpassed master from The King Of Rock And Roll.

Tracks: 1. Wearin' That Loved On Look / 2. Only The Strong Survive / 3. I'll Hold You In My Heart (Till I Can Hold You In My Arms) / 4. Long Black Limousine / 5. It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin' / 6. I'm Movin' On / 7. Power Of My Love / 8. Gentle On My Mind / 9. After Loving You / 10. True Love Travels On A Gravel Road / 11. Any Day Now / 12. In The Ghetto / 13. I'll Be There / 14. The Legacy edition of 'From Elvis In Memphis' is one of my favourite Elvis Presley releases. The packaging evokes the era, there's a real warmth to the sound and there is extensive bonus material in the form of the entire 'Back In Memphis' LP and the distinctive mono singles. The Legacy series has been uneven (e.g., obsolete, inferior mixes were inexcusably used for the 'Madison Square Garden (1972)' and 'Aloha From Hawaii (1973) releases) but 'Memphis 1969' is outstanding.

Elvis's version of Hey Jude is 100 times better than the Beatles. I hate their voice so I never listen to their version.
