EIN announced that SONY would be releasing a 50th Anniversary Deluxe "Elvis LIVE 1969" set back in March and now they have the sensational cover image.
Elvis Club Berlin, Amazon, SONY Europe have all supplied a taster of this new ELEVEN CD set, however nothing has been officially confirmed by SONY / RCA as yet. FOUR of these 1969 Elvis Las Vegas concerts have never been released as full performances on CD.
The 11 Elvis performances would be:
August 21 1969 Midnight Show - BMG 'Viva Las Vegas CD2'
August 22 1969 Dinner Show - FTD 'Elvis In Person CD2'
August 22 1969 Midnight Show - Unreleased as complete show
August 23 1969 Saturday Dinner Show - Recent VINYL release
August 23 1969 Saturday Midnight Show - FTD 'Elvis At The International'
August 24 1969 Dinner Show - BMG box-set 'Live In Las Vegas CD1'
August 24 1969 Midnight Show - Unreleased as complete show
August 25 1969 Dinner Show - Unreleased as complete show
August 25 1969 Midnight Show - FTD 'Hot August Night'
August 26 1969 Dinner Show - FTD 'Live In Vegas'
August 26 1969 Tuesday Midnight Show - FTD 'All Shook Up'
I'm glad it's being released for those who want/need it. As for me, I'm good with what I've got. Next!
If the mix will be similar to the recent VINYL release, it will be really fine, especially with all concerts having the same mix (piano left, guitars on the right).
This looks outstanding, I love the 69 shows (even though they sound all the same), but my greatest concern is how much Sony is expecting us to pay for such a lavish release. Next year we will have a similar outing with all the TTWII recorded concerts and in 2022 we will finally get all the On Tour concerts. That’s my guess.
Great. And it´s clear that not all of the stuff is unreleased. But it doesn´t matter for me. I love the 69 concets, Elvis is at full blast. He looks good, is in good spirit and sings marvelous. Give it to me straight !
I am also looking forward to this release. Will hope that the sound is top notch and has been remixed the same at all shows. Most of all, I hope that all the tracks are where they belong. So not the monologue is packed somewhere again, everything is there where it belongs. Oh yes, it would be nice with such a product if there would be a great and informative booklet or even a small book in there. Maybe even - as in 1969 - a poster or postcards would be there. Most of course, I am also curious how deep us Sony wants to grab this time in our purse.
Milky White Way, a deluxe multi-cd set was already done for TTWII in 2014 containing all the RCA-recorded concerts, but SONY might decide to re-issue it in some form next year... possibly without the DVDs.
Thank you Memphis Fan, I thought the TTWII multi set was unofficial. Hence Sony Celebrating 50 years since.
The 2014 TTWII set(s) were official SONY sets, so they'll need to use their imaginations to produce anything worthwhile for the 50th next year in 2020. There are some rehearsals that still remain unofficially released. ~ As for this new '69 Vegas set, I'll probably pass on it because I already own most of the material in good-enough sound quality.
-- Below I should have written... "officially unreleased"
I'm up for this, my worries and concerns have already been covered in comments below. Fingers crossed.
Looks very interesting, I do not like the cover with a simple photo of average quality too saturated colors I prefer the refined style of the FTD 2002 "at the international" for example but of course the tastes of each are different .. about the TTWII box with DVD or bluray I prefer that the supports are separate I have the TTWII blu ray book collector version so for next year I would buy a box that contains all the concerts TTWII CD without the sessions of Nashville and without a DVD in 2014 I only bought the 2CD version (and blu ray mentioned above) but still congratulations to Sony FTD for all these quality products.
Is there anything planned to celebrate 50 years of memphis sessions?
Good question claunath82. Would be -in my opinion- a great idea to celebrate 50 years memphis sessions like the 3CD „Elvis at Stax“ or 2CD „Way Down in the Jungle. Would love it.
I've bought every Memphis Sessions release since "From Elvis In Memphis" in '69. Including the FTD releases. I expect there will something released to celebrate those sessions. But I've got all I need. No sale. Next!
