You ask how much I need you
Must I explain
I need you oh my darling
Like roses need rain
You ask how long I'll love you
I'll tell you true
Until the twelfth of never I'll still be loving you
Hold me close
Never let me go
Hold me close
Melt my heart like April snow
I'll love you 'till the blue bells forget to bloom
I'll love you 'till the clover has lost its perfume
I'll love you 'till the poets run out of rhyme
Oh, until the twelfth of never
And that's a long long time
Until the twelfth of never
And that's a long long time

Just a rehearsal, but I love it :) I think Elvis should have actually sung it on stage.
This is such a beautiful song and one of my all time favorites. Elvis' rehearsal of it was brilliant and it's my favorite previously unreleased track that's included on the "Walk A Mile In My Shoes: The Essential 1970's Masters" 5 CD box set from 1995. Elvis should have sung this song at some of his concerts too.
A rehearsal yes but sung with such soul and feeling. I often listen to it and find that it stands up very well against other artists professionally finished versions.
There is a song that Elvis did in Bad Nauheim that Elvis did in the summer of 1959 that's called The Titles Will Tell. Elvis starts the song amazingly, but burst out laughing at the end. That song should be in this list.
The ending is really terrible with Voice. Elvis singing is beautiful and heartfelt.
I never really thought this would be a song suitable for Elvis. But, this rehearshal actually impressed me a little.
I play it now and then and I agree it is a very emotional performance by our man! Would have been great in concert imo!
I really love the rehearsal. But I love the version with David Briggs's overdubbs even more. Why is it that rejected songs like "Twelfth Of Never" or "I'm A Roustabout" are often better than some of the used material?
Another woulda, coulda, shoulda from Elvis.

I really enjoy this version by Elvis and like all the reviews wish he sang it live. He must have had his reasons for dropping it. I agree with sugartummy, the ending with the overblown howling Voice spoils it a little for me. 4 stars
