Take a ton of bolt and steel
A whole lotta sweat, a set of wheels
On the Speedway
The flag is down, pistons pound
Plenty of engines ripping around .. on the Speedway
Go for the money and lead the pack
Push the throttle and burn the track
Curl and swirl like you doin' a dance
Speedway's comin' and now's your chance
On the Speedway, on the Speedway, on the Speedway
Stoke that pedal down to the floor
As much as you give, crowd wants more
More, more, more, more, more on the Speedway
On the Speedway
Take a spin, hit the brakes
A young little girl .. shivers and shakes
On the Speedway
Clear the way, comin' through
Kiss from your baby just pushin' you
On the Speedway
Go for the money and lead the pack
Push the throttle and burn the track
Curl and swirl like you doin' a dance
Speedway's comin' and now's your chance
On the Speedway, on the Speedway, on the Speedway
Stoke that pedal down to the floor
As much as you give, crowd wants more
More, more, more, more, more on the Speedway
On the Speedway
On the Speedway, on the Speedway, on the Speedway
On the Speedway, on the Speedway, on the Speedway
On the Speedway, on the Speedway

The title song from Elvis' 27th (in order of release) movie. Not a badly written song for being a song written about racing and Elvis does a good job with it. The problem is the production on the seven songs recorded for this movie. It sounds like they were recorded on a portable tape player. This song in particular.
Not a bad song, not a great song, but a theme repeated way too often prior. By 1968, fans and the public were ready for a change and fast!
I've always liked this song and the entire arrangement. It's not a great song, but it's a fun song and very catchy too.
A catchy little number, as Elvis does he turns a pretty average song into something much much better. Surely ripe for a remix this one?
I too, like this song. Its a real enjoyable energetic song, and done well. But, be aware, if you listen to this song, as your driving, you will end up, drivng, much faster ! And I recommend, you play "Speedway" in the car, and not "Spinout for obvious reasons !(LOL) However both are fun songs !
As a title song to a movie this is one of the very best. Nice arrangement, it literally drives along with plenty of energy, gusto, and aptly as the name suggests, giving us the speedway feel - not bad at all.
Go! Go! Go! I love it! Too bad it was (and still is) badly remastered. The unedited master sounds much, MUCH better.
I love this song. It has a great drive. Scotty Moore was not present on this sessions, but many other regulars were. The ending is great with the racing cars sound and someone screaming Aaah.
This was about dead set in the middle of the most unproductive period of Elvis's career. However, this is a better than average movie song. The song has some real energy and was the title song too a movie with Nancy Sinatra, that alone makes it worth the listen.
Was it a great song? No, but i liked it. 3 stars. Was it a great soundtrack? No, but I played it a lot back in the day. These days I play the FTD version. FTD version: 4 stars. Was it a great movie? No, but it was fun. I enjoyed it. 3 stars. There. You're all filled in.
I've always enjoyed this song! Unfortunately the movie and soundtrack era had dried out. Even though I think Elvis' later soundtrack songs were much better delivered than those from ECEG, DT and Clambake! I still play Speedway! Especially the FTD remix Version.
Not horrible, but there's no great idea involved. It's a run of the mill composition, a typical title track. The production doesn't help either. At the end of the day;this is nothing to write home about.
