Soldier boy why feel blue
Don't you believe that she will be true
It's written in the book
That she was meant for only you
Soldier boy tell me why do you cry
When you return she'll rush to your side
It's written in the book
That she was meant for only you
So prove your love is true
She'll be there to say "I do"
And if you go o'er sea or land
She'll make you understand
While you're gone oh try to believe
Her love for you is really for real
It's written in the book
That she was meant for only you
So prove your love is true
She'll be there to say "I do"
And if you go o'er sea or land
She'll make you understand
While you're gone oh try to believe
Her love for you is really for real
It's written in the book
That she was meant for only you

Elvis does doo-wop and knocks it out of the park. So much better than the original. Perfect execution with the Jords.
The Four Fellows have the original, which doesn't sound bad at all. Chet Atkins produced this one for Elvis.Only Scotty Moore can be heard on the electric guitar, as Hank Garland played the electric bass. Done as doo-wop as the original from 1955.
Probably heard or known by a very small percentage of people outside the Elvis faithful, is a ballad tenderly sung, supreme in its soulful execution, by our boy at the top of his game.
An excellent doo-wop ballad but a strange lead off track for side 2 of the "Elvis Is Back!" album. I rate it 5-Stars, period!
5 star recording as where most of the tracks at this time. Elvis had moved on from his rock 'n roll days to record pure pop. This was the top charting days part 2 for Elvis. Great studio albums and singles mixed with good musical soundtracks and even movie singles good enough to top the charts.
This is such a marvelous, underrated and overlooked doo-wop ballad and Elvis sang it beautifully and tenderly. Elvis' rendition of it should definitely be far better known than it actually is. Elvis' rendition of this gem is a true masterpiece for sure. I rate this song and Elvis' version of it 5 Stars.
A mediocre composition, nothing outstanding, a typical filler track and one of the weakest tracks on eib. Because of elvis great vocal form and the perfect sound it's still very listenable in context, but nothing memorable, or something i would listen to out of the lp-context.
Soldier Boy is one of those Elvis songs I can listen to repeatedly. I've never grown tired of it. 5 stars.
It was a boring song, once! Now, I love it! That's the way it is! Beeing an Elvis fan!
A very big favourite of mine from the Elvis is Back Lp. Then again loved this hold album.
Sublime performance. The transition from chorus to verse when Elvis holds the line understand into while is 5 stars alone.
