Oh break it, burn it, drag it all around
Twist it, turn it, you can't tear it down
Cos' every minute, every hour you'll be shaken
By the strength and mighty power of my love
Crush it, kick it, you can never win
I know baby you can't lick it
I'll make you give in
Every minute, every hour you'll be shaken
By the strength and mighty power of my love
Baby I want you, you'll never get away
My love will haunt you yes haunt you night and day
Touch it, pound it, what good does it do
There's just no stoppin' the way I feel for you
Cos' every minute, every hour you'll be shaken
By the strength and mighty power of my love
Yeh, yeh, baby I want you, you'll never get away
My love will haunt you yes haunt you night and day
Touch it, pound it, what good does it do
There's just no stoppin' the way I feel for you
Cos' every minute, every hour you'll be shaken
By the strength and mighty power of my love
I said every minute, every hour you'll be shaken
By the strength and mighty power of my love
Every minute, every hour you'll be shaken
By the strength and mighty power of my love

My personal favourite of the '69 sessions. I love it from the first to the last second, being it the slower or the faster version. Every second, every minute I'm shaken by the strength and mighty power of this song!
A beat very different from what Elvis got us used to hear. Marvelous result !
What a way to begin the B Side of "From Elvis in Memphis" LP! Love that strength and that power!
As much as I like the Elvis in Memphis album with it's mixture of soul and country. I usually skip this track.
The best song from the Memphis LP and would have been a monster single in 1969. Maybe even now! Why do I say that? Whenever I play this song for non-Elvis fans, they love it. The best song ever from Giant/Baum/Kaye. Simply powerful.
Unbelievable this fantastic track came from the same people that delivered Elvis “classics” such as “Shake That Tambourine” and “Queenie Wahine's Papaya”!
THE POWER OF ELVIS!! What an superb song and performance!! This would be a smash hit without a doubt.
this is my favorite Elvis song of all time!! Was waiting for this one to get reviewed>>>>>dont know why RCA never even made a single release for this song. Listening to this song I can envision Elvis at American Sound getting down and dirty with this kick-butt song!Way to go my man!
Without a doubt, a great song !! As pointed out, Elvis at his Best !!! The "original Memphis album, had so many possibilities.. for hit singles.. and RCA, only released "In the Ghetto/Any Day Now" off of the album.. Later RCA upgraded the album, with "Don't Cry Daddy" "Suspicious Minds" etc.. So many hit singles that never happened.. because RCA, didn't work the album to Radio... "Power of my Love" "Wearin' that Loved on Look".. "Only the Strong survive" to name a few..
You can imagine this being sung in a smoky room, dark lights, gravelly floor. Pure atmosphere, pure grit, pure power, Pure Elvis Presley, the King of any style of music he Chooses to pound out... TCB
This song prove that Elvis could be as good as he was in the fifties if not even better Anyone who judge Elvis by listening to his movie track and say that he died when he goes to the army are so wrong He was just as powerful as he was earlier.
AWESOME AWESOME and again a AWESOME song, sung by the powerful Elvis.. you can hear he loves singing this song
A quality album from an amazing album, arguably the best studio album produced by the King. Play it loud and proud! AWESOME!
From Elvis In Memphis LP, great LP great song. TTWII followed another great LP, it went down hill after this. After these two great albums we were "treated" to a load of of under parr studio albums & live LPs that all sounded the same, even D.J.Fontana was quoted as saying about "Hound Dog being sung at breakneck speed,if he didn't like singing them anymore, drop it.
Power of my love was a hit in Belgium and should have been issued as such globally at the time. I feel the same about Rubberneckin' and think both these songs would have had more hit potential as Kentucky rain. Elvis is raw and kickin' on this recording! Four stars from me.
Fantastic song from a very very good album.
Probably the best song ever written by this team and a great performance all around by all involved.
I don't think Elvis knew any off the people he worked with on these sessions. He prefered people he already knew. So it's unbelievable how many great songs were recorded at these sessions. This was the only song off Freddy Bienstock's list that was recorded. Other songs that were on a list to be recorded at these sessions, but weren't are:I will be true, you don't have to say you love me, over my head(by Shuman), can't find it in your heart (Tepper/Bennett), sweet angeline, poor man's gold, come out, come out, send out love, salt, when the snow is on the roses, angelica, you gave me a mountain, chilla and fever, let there be you and the wonder of you.
One word F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C what I pity it didn´t reach live stage
Love the album but not this track so much, I usually skip it
Why hasn't this song got 5 stars as an average - an absolutely fabulous intense recording -in top 5 of Memphis sessions.
I love the single from the "Elvis In Memphis" LP (In The Ghetto/Any Day Now), but this would have been an even better choice. This song and "Wearin' That Loved On Look" showed Elvis could still rock better than anyone and either would have been a huge hit in '69. I can't imagine skipping this track. Great track off a truly great LP. 5 stars for both!
I've always enjoyed this unique, fun, electrifying, underrated, overlooked and fabulous song and I've never skipped it. It's a true masterpiece of a song and recording for sure. It's from one of Elvis' Top 5 best albums "From Elvis in Memphis".
In my infinite wisdom and old age, this song doesn't ring my chimes like it used to. It's a song I don't go out of my way to play.
Not much melody here, but the power is not only in the title of the song, it's also in the recording. Makes a great listen. Overall a fantastic opening for the b side of this legendary album. 5 stars.
I liked this song a lot in my younger days. But I hit the skip button now. Prefer his ballads and love songs these days.
Another great gem from my favorite sessions by Elvis. You can just hear it in his voice how much he is enjoying this song.
A great track from a great album. Indeed, every track was oh so good. Never skip any of this fav songs.
Great song! I have always liked it! There are three additional complete takes of it. Take 1, 3, 6 and the undubbed master, take 7. They all sound fantastic to me!
Not the best song on the album, that belongs to Gentle on my mind. But when you have an album like Elvis in Memphis, even the worst song is at least 4 stars. However, this is a belter of a 5 star track and wish it was better known to the general public. Imagine this live in Vegas 69.
