I'm so very glad that the acetate containing Elvis' version of "Little Mama" was finally released this year. For so many years, I thought that this Elvis recording would never be released. This is such a terrific song and Elvis' rendition of it was brilliant. Now, I'm hoping that Elvis' versions of "Sitting On Top Of The World", "Only You", "Uncle Pen" and "Rock Around The Clock" would eventually be located and officially released.
I have only heard this historic live recording on Youtube so perhaps I am not being entirely objective but it is like Fool Fool Fool to me, in how better it could have been properly recorded. To reallyy appreciate this performance demands visuals, and this would have been really something to see, but alas that is just a dream.
"Only You" and "Rock Around The Clock" in about the same You-tube quality would be a nice find. Without too much knowledge about the Elvis World, I do not know exactly if "Little Mama" rumored to exist in the hands of a certain Sherif. There is a story out there of someone who seems to possess RATC but not willing to share it with the rest of the Elvis Colletctors. Wasn't it Ernest Joergensen who heard a clandestinely recorded snippet of it by someone who was allowed to hear the original RATC tape? "Only You" would be intresting too. In comparison to "I Was The One" Well, wait they surely come out with it by April 1, 2013 ;-) Cheers, Pedro.
A special gem, very exiting. I found it on spotify.
Imagining and hoping for the release of certain songs that were never recorded to begin with is a utter joke. I can imagine myself being a millionaire but not actually having the money is another truth. This song is not one of his better efforts to be blunt and if memory serves me right, it's on my recent version of "The Boy from Tupelo" where it rightly belongs.
I couldn't care less. 2 stars.
Have this on 45, you can hear the raw energy of this little gem
I sure wish there was more of this kind of stuff available. 5 stars for the young, raw Elvis!
Listened to it once and that was enough. It’s great history but that’s all.
