Words & Music:
Hank Williams
Today I passed you on the street
And my heart was at your feet
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you
Somebody else stood by your side
And he looked so satisfied
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you
A memory from the past came slowly stealing
As I braced your arm and walked so close to you (yeah)
Oh heaven only knows how much I miss you
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you

I like this version. Why wasn't this recorded properly?
This is such a marvelous song and Elvis' home recorded performance of it was terrific. With that said, Elvis should have recorded a proper studio version of this song for a studio album release. A proper studio version of it would have had a much better arrangement and far superior audio quality too.
These Private Recordings will apart from 1 or 2 only get a maximum of 3 stars from me. They are what they are, a bit of a sing song in one's private time for personal pleasure, and this performance hints at something special if recorded in a studio.
There are several recordings of this song. On one, recorded in Germany, Anita Wood is doing the singing with Elvis on piano. On a other one Elvis is singing with a exaggerated country voice. On a other one he's singing "normally". A good song. Elvis could have played Hank Williams in a movie, but Parker backed off. So he robbed us of a album full of Hank Williams songs.
I'm sorry, the Anita Wood version was recorded Eddie Fadal Residence in Waco Texas.
All the home recorded/rehearsal material doesn't do a thing for me.
