Happy Ending

Rating:
3.5 / 5

Words & Music: Ben Weisman Sid Wayne

Happy ending, happy ending
Give me a story with a, happy ending
When boy meets girl and then
They never part again
But live forever happily, like you and me

Our love story gets me so upset
Like Romeo, and Juliet
I'm not smart enough to figure why
Some folks enjoy, a real good cry

Happy ending, happy ending
Give me a story with a, happy ending
When boy meets girl and then
They never part again
But live forever happily, like you and me

Never thought that I would stand a chance
That you'd give me, a second glance
But I think that you can play the part
And give a guy, a happy heart

Happy ending, happy ending
Give me a story with a, happy ending
When boy meets girl and then
They never part again
But live forever happily, like you and me

When boy meets girl and then, they never part again
but live forever happily, like you and me

Like you and me, like you and me
Like you and me

The best song from World's Fair in my opinion. Filmsy, yes a bit ,but not a bad tune by any means. Very catchy refrain and of course Elvis sung it very well. Still didn't save the soundtrack as a whole though. Very weak LP overall.

Very enjoyable finale from the movie and soundtrack "It Happened At The World's Fair". This is the way most Elvis movies would end, with a happy ending and a catchy song that you would find yourself humming hours after the movie was over. This finale song is pure fun just like "Didja Ever" from "G.I. Blues", "There's A Brand New Day On The Horizon" from "Roustabout" and "I'll Be Back" from "Spinout".

I think theres an error in the lyrics on here, the second verse should start "hard luck stories get me so upset". I do quite enjoy this song, one of the more catchier ones from a soundtrack that only lasts 20 mins!! The part where he sings the last line of the verses high, lower & high again reminds me of how he does it in pocketfull of rainbows.

On the whole this soundtrack with its short running time and mostly weak material solidified the downward trend started on the movie LP front, Even the single was the first to fail to crack the top 10 here in the U.S. But at least this song closed out the album on a high note. Not a bad song at all.

I did enjoy this song when I watched the film, I liked both film and music. However, it does not work as well on record. I thought that the joy and energy that I saw in the movie was missing when I listened to the soundtrack album. I´m not too excited about the arrangement either. Very well sung though!

I love this song from IHAWF, by far the best song from this soundtrack. Too bad the sound is a bit muffled, like on many other soundtracks. I have listened to this song a lot, with this was the standard for movie songs. The album itself, IHAWF, is very very good. But like everyone else mentions it's far too short, only 20 minutes running time. There are several good songs on this album and it's too bad they didn't make the songs last longer than the average 1 min 45 sec.. One of my all time favorites, They Remind Me Too Much Of You, is on this album, one of the most beautiful songs Elvis ever recorded.

A film I like, the song is pleasant enough as was the rest of the rest of the soundtrack

One of my favorite things about Elvis' films is they taught me about love, friendship and loyalty. "Happy Ending" is the embodiment of all of that.

This is such a beautiful, fun, catchy, underrated and overlooked song and it's easily one of my most favorite Elvis movie songs from the 1960's. It's from my 2nd most favorite Elvis movie "It Happened At The World's Fair".

The song works brilliantly in the film but not on record. It is what it is, and that is the closing performance to a film and just not transfer with the same success as a 'vinyl' recording - 3 stars.

This is not the best song from the soundtrack. That's They remind me too much of you. Still a nice ditty, not great.

Pleasant is about all I can give this. Up beat and joyous, but only marginally above the average movie fodder, which damaged Elvis's career.

First line of verse two should read "Hard luck stories get me so upset." Enjoyable song and soundtrack.

This song is over before it even starts; a fast throw-away tune with lyrics which are so pedestrian.

The single from that album (broken heart/remind me..)are all you need from the lp. This song shows why. Stupid, generic, uninspired.

Where I come from, the album actually went to #1! Belive it! It was on of the first Elvis LP albums I ever was able to listen to!( a friend of me took it from his brother and lend it to me, secretly) I liked it then! Now, it's in the shade! But, that's the way life goes! Still, it's a nice happy go lucky tune!
