Night and you
And blue Hawaii
The night is heavenly
And you are heaven to me
Lovely you
And blue Hawaii
With all this loveliness
There should be love
Come with me
While the moon is on the sea,
The night is young
And so are we, so are we
Dreams come true
In blue Hawaii
And mine could all come true
This magic night of nights with you

Elvis does Bing Crosby. The tide was certainly turning in 1961 with Elvis becoming the all around family entertainer. Nice song I guess because of Elvis in great voice , but also the beginning of the Hollywood years when Elvis lost his credibility with the rock and roll masses and critics in general.
Elvis is outstanding on the title track to his 8th movie. In 1961, rock and roll had changed from what it had been in 1958 and popular music had a much softer feel. Earlier in that year, Elvis was almost rejected by the music buying pubic with his brilliant rendition of R & B infused "I Feel So Bad". That was followed by "Little Sister" being overtaken on the charts by it's softer flipside "His Latest Flame". This song and the soundtrack LP filled with beautiful ballads fit right in with the times.
It is a good song & performance. Yes music had changed, but not that much. With songs like He's A Rebel, Tossin & Turning, The Wanderer, Quarter To Three, Hit The Road Jack, and others, there were still plenty of good rock songs high on the charts. I Feel So Bad was maybe too sophisticated for AM radio back then, but still it reached #5. Back to this song. Yes it is good, but the album? Too much blandness. It didnt have to be 1958 and King Creole, but these songs all sounded the same to me as opposed to KC or even GI Blues. His voice was at its best and was starting to get the 'movie' songs.
Blue Hawaii the song was great, the film when released was a monster hit & the single released of the album CHFIL would remain an Elvis standard for the rest of his career and beyond. Between 1960 & 1962 Elvis commanded the music & film charts and rightly so. With GI Blues & Blue Hawaii Elvis proved he could do a big musical. In hindsite he should stop here and returned to live & tv shows instead of waiting until 1968.
Loved the song, album and film.
It's a nice song and rendition, but it makes me feel sad because my Elvis The Pelvis was already dying and dark days were coming. G.I. Blues, Blue Hawaii and Girl Girls Girls were the true causes for the so called “British Invasion”, which only had that magnitude simply because Elvis left the central Rock Stage empty with plenty of room to be field. In other words it wasn’t the British invasion that knocked Elvis out from the Rock scene: It was Elvis that made room for the British invasion to came that big! An Blue Hawaii was the beginning.
Love it.And so does millions of people.
This is such a beautiful ballad and my favorite rendition of it is Elvis' version from the "Blue Hawaii" soundtrack album.
A beautiful ballad, brilliantly sung, to introduce a very important album and film in the career of Elvis. The British Invasion would have happened whether Elvis was performing rock or not, as he had been number one or thereabouts for 7 years, a lifetime in music, and a new generation were looking for their own heroes
There are several versions of this song by Elvis. They don't differ that much. Elvis sounds great, but the song is a bit lame.
Nice song compared to the rest of the boring 14-song original album released back in 1961. I can't believe this started the long, slow decline of soundtrack recordings for Elvis.
Elvis does a great version of this song. Always enjoyed the song, movie and LP. Still do.
Elvis sings this very well, but i don't cafe for the song in general. I have to admit, it's better than the sinatra version. Still: not my song or style of music 4 stars for tne objective quality, 2 stars from my personal point of view, that makes 3 stars from me.
The times/music was changing, and the British Invasion (which I had no use for) would have happened even if Elvis had rocked his arse off (IMO). If Elvis had morphed from into rock star of each succeeding decade I would have found someone/thing else to listen to.
Not the best track on the Soundtrack but it’s still beautiful to listen to. Like it or not, the movie was as much of a landmark in Elvis’ career as Heartbreak Hotel or the 68 Special. Everyone in the general public know about this movie and it’s a classic. Too bad the Colonel wanted to repeat the same formula for every other movie from then on. This title song is a just little bland compared to the rest but I still give it 4 stars.
