ElvisNews review
Design
This is the best Elvis magazine to show up so far this year. It's large, with 144 very heavy pages. It's really unique in the content with sections covering "Elvis' hair, badges, wheels, shoes, jewelry" and so much more. There are beautiful pictures, many in color and some are full page size.
Content
The magazine is sold sealed in plastic with an accompanying CD which is in a cardboard sleeve. The 2 songs are "Heartbreak Hotel" and a rare version of "In the Ghetto" probably from "The Memphis Sessions", Follow That Dream release.
Photos are both black and white and color. Elvis is covered in every era of his life. There's a gorgeous b/w shot of him in the white fringe and that takes 2 pages. Elvis is shown with his family, his friends, his fans, musicians, and co-stars. The photos of his jewelry are enlarged and in color. Also, the gun and badge collection shows great detail to each item. Pictures of his shoes and boots I had never seen before. Most of the photos have been seen but there are still some unseen gems.
Peter Guarlnick does an intro where he attempts to explain Elvis' enduring success and popularity. There are no advertisements except for the new "Elvis, 30 # 1 Hits" and "Today Tomorrow and Forever". This is mostly a pictorial with little text. But what is included is good reading. Bruce Springsteen pays tribute at the end followed by some Elvis trivia.
Conclusion
The price is 9.99 U.S. Dollars. Everyone should be very pleased with this magazine since it has something for all of the fans interests and it will make a nice keepsake for the 25th Anniversary.
