The interest for Elvis concerts continued to increase, and again extra concerts had to be put on, and audience records and taking records were also broken. The audience on this tour was certainly in no doubt that Elvis was everything they had waited for - and more. But the fans and the press agreed completely on one thing - that the circus atmosphere Parker created with the brash sale of cheap souvenirs was vulgar and had nothing to do with the show and an artist of Elvis' calibre. The normally good security during Elvis' concerts revealed a few slips during this tour. The worst effect of this was in Niagara Falls, where violent disturbances broke out amongst the audience. Two guards and a policeman were injured when they tried to prevent fans storming towards the stage. A female security officer was squeezed towards the stage by the audience, and screamed for help. Elvis and one of the musicians saved her from the throng by pulling her up on stage. She got a scarf from Elvis which was stolen from her the moment she got down from the stage and Elvis gave her a new one. Several people were injured in the fighting and a lady was knocked unconscious in the fight over a scarf.
