A New Import

Golden Records The Alternate Album Collection' New Import: A five CD set of Alternate "Elvis Golden Records"

The publicity notes: The Elvis’ Golden Records albums spanning a period of 26 years are true classic albums. The first two volumes focussing on his early career, volume 3 & 4 mainly on the 1960’s. The original series contained the regular master versions, just as the fans knew the songs so well. This neat 5 CD boxset including a 20 page booklet contains only rare alternate & hard to find versions. The same lineup but a very different listening experience.
For collectors who have to own everything, "Also a limited 45RPM EP set is available. This set contains 5 beautiful EP’s and a bonus CD.".

Something we're really NOT waiting for!

I own all five of the Golden Records. It's a great history of Elvis recordings. I've always wondered why there wasn't a volume SIX. Singles like, I just can't help believing, Wonder of you, My way, to name a few.

Not for me. I'm part of the 'there's nothing new here' brigade. However, something can be said for putting these alternate takes together into a 'set' and therefore may appeal to some collectors.

Maybe a Volume 6 could've looked something like this -- SIDE A: The Wonder of You, Viva Las Vegas, Puppet On a String, Frankie and Johnny, Rubberneckin' .... SIDE B: I Really Don't Want To Know, Separate Ways, Don't Cry Daddy, You Don't Have To Say You Love Me, My Way
