ElvisNews.com:

Finally released competely on CD is the July 24, 1975 concert, recorded at Ashville, with the only live performance of "Pieces Of My Life".

Design

We sometimes write that you can't go wrong with an action shot of Elvis on the cover. But there are exceptions, especially with the Indian Feathers suit Elvis wears here.

Combined with the make-up he looks like a scarecrow. Fortunately the booklet contains other suits too. The content of the booklet- 16 page - is a very informative and to the point read.

Content

This concert is the closing show of a strange tour. Elvis misbehaved himself on-stage, with nasty commends to Kathy and the Sweets, to the point that two Sweets and Kathy left the stage.Off-stage he almost shot Dr. Nic.

But contrary to this strange behavior, he delivered strong performances, and this concert recording shows that. By request he sings songs like "An American Trilogy" and "Something" - his last live performance of this song. He also did rare oldies like "Return To Sender" - he actually has to look for the key to sing it in - and Wooden Heart. Another request is "Hawaiian Wedding Song" and the only live version of "Pieces Of My Life" is dedicated to his father, who was just recovered from illness. Doing these songs in between the standard set shows he could improvise and also shows the entertainer in him. Also special this show is "Shake A Hand" which we don't get too often. To sum it up: Elvis is in a great mood, performs very strong and sings rare songs.

The audio quality is not the greatest, an audience recording with a sometime slippery tape, but a major improvement on the already available releases of this concert.

Conclusion

Probably not the best performances of many standards, but Elvis does a lot of request songs and you hear the enjoyment on and off the stage, and that is worth getting this CD.
