Reviews
This CD released a few weeks ago on the Music Gate label contains the last show of the third tour of 1977.Elvis apparently wanted to do something different that night, and certainly did in starting his performance with "That's All Right" followed by a short version of "Trouble" (from King Creole movie), and then a more regular line-up of songs although quite different from other shows of that tour. This show features the very last performance of "Mystery Train/Tiger Man" and a lucky fan (Linda) had Elvis sings "Happy Birthday" to her.
The sound of this CD is average at the most and a very basic artwork with pictures not related in any ways with the contents. The front cover shot is from June 26th 1977 Indianapolis,IN. show while the other one was taken the night before in Cincinnati,OH. I suppose this is mostly aimed at CD collectors who wants it all, otherwise you can live without it.
We can only wished that the FTD label will release in the future some of the tracks recorded by Felton Jarvis during the first three tours of 1977. Mr. Jorgensen used one track on the Platinum box-set a few years ago (My Way from May 2nd 1977 Chicago,IL. show) and the sound is really excellent for a soundboard recording, some others were released on bootlegs but we can assume here BMG has the best quality recordings of those songs.
