Fool

By ElvisNews.com/ Lex, April 14, 2018 | Music

It took a while, almost 8 years after the CD version, but for the vinyl lovers FTD released a 2LP version of the 1973 album Elvis (Fool).

Design

The design is pretty standard, the cover is as originally intended by Joan Deary back in the 1970s. The inside carries the backside of the planned version and some notes from the archives and more coverart from the included singles. The backside has a great Aloha shot and the full tracklisting.

Content

There are no surprises included, all tracks can be found on the CD too. The first LP has the songs that were supposed to end up on the 1973 version, thus including the re-recordings from January 1973. The highlight to me (yes, I am one of the vinyl lovers who is convinced vinyl sounds better than CDs) is the full version of Don’t Think Twice. The one on Behind Closed Doors didn’t sound too good anymore, so I am glad with this replacement. Ah well, the strings on Fool are nice for a change too. All together it is quite an enjoyable album, certainly compared to what Felton Jarvis made from it.

Conclusion

Purely for diehard collectors and vinyl lovers, I for one am pretty happy that there is no Padre!

It will probably never happen again, but I totally agree with Lex's review.

I love vinyl, but i doubt that the vinyl here sounds better than the cd. All the FTD-vinyl-editions, i belive that the first one is the only exception, come from digital sources. I have a few, ten or so, and they sound exactly like the cds.
