Just before Christmas the classic album Kissin' Cousins - as in part of this series - arrived.
Design
The presentation has the usual "classic album" treatment. Nice pics, liner notes by Alan Hanson (from 2008!) and lots of memorabilia.
Content
In my book this is certainly not the worst soundtrack, far from it I may even add. An album with Long Lonely Highway must have a lot of rubbish to make it bad.
Especially on the ballads Elvis sounds superior to Anyone. That's exactly what showcases the weakness of this release: the many instrumental tracks. Without Elvis' voice most are rubbish.
With the announcement I saw people complaining that there was no second CD, if even with mono versions. This makes more sense to me now.
Conclusion
The first half of the CD is ok, after that the stop button will be used often.
I am very happy with this Classic Album CD. The sound is very good. And the few outtakes are interesting and most of them unreleased. A second CD with the mono versions would be great to have everything so far available. For me Thumbs up.
Thanks for filling a hole in my collection, Ernst. Whatever's left, keep those classics coming.
happy go lucky album . Love the full loud sound of kissin cousins , great sax and two superb ballads with unusual shiny lp sleeve . dont play it much these days but a great album when it first came out . Songs fit the film
The only noteworthy "classic album" titles remaining for FTD to issue... "For LP Fans Only" (1959) and "Elvis In Concert" (1977).
The highlights of this FTD are the following 5 tracks... Kissin' Cousins #2 - (Unedited Master) ; Catchin' On Fast - (Unedited Master) ; Anyone (Could Fall in Love with You) - (Vocal Overdub Take 2 / Alternate Master) ; Kissin' Cousins - (Regular Vocal) ;
Tender Feeling - (Vocal Only, Take 1 / Master)
