Sunday… a good day to read magazines and we found plenty of them in our mailbox this week. Here is an overview.
The Man And His Music
The 101st issue of the magazine TMAHM (or EMM) has an interview with security guard J. Tom Miller, another in depth view on songs by Keith Flynn and of course all the regulars like news, reviews and letters. Did you know that TMAHM is present on Facebook too?
Flaming Star
From Norway comes the beautiful Flaming Star. This 75th issue has a focus on Priscilla. Articles about her and Elvis, an interview and many great pictures. There’s also an interview with Gordon Stoker and an article on John Wilkinson, who we both lost this year. Even if you do not understand a single word Norwegian, this magazine is almost a must for its many rare pictures and beautiful presentation.
Graceland
The German Graceland, brought to you by the Elvis Presley Gesellschaft has reached #212. It has an interview with Glen D. Hardin and an article on Elvis at Humes. Furthermore there are the usual in depth reviews, with a special double one on Stay Away Joe: the recent FTD and one of the rarest LPs with that name. Included with the magazine is a great calendar poster for 2014. One side NBC special only, the other side has great shots from Aloha.
Golden Boy Elvis
Also from Germany is Golden Boy Elvis. The 3rd issue in their 7th year has an article on East Tupelo and a huge article on facts around Aloha. In the series “Elvis on LP” they look back on the immortal Elvis Sings For Children. Of course all regulars are present too: reviews, news and the song-rumour series.
My Happiness
Last but not least is the 85th issue of My Happiness, the French fanclub’s magazine. It has an article on Elvis in 1973, an interview with Ginger and Mary Holladay, an article on Leiber & Stoller and one on Elvis and racism. And yes, the regular magazine items like news and reviews are available too.
