It's a tough economy. Guess I can't fault these guys everyone needs to make a buck.
Hello, I'm with you oldscudder - yet another heist.
Jamie. Actually the best sounding Elvis for me were the old 45's played on a cheap 45 player. That's because I was a teenager without a care in the world. These cd no matter how they good they are will never be as good as those old 45's. If your my age you know what I'm talking about. Rock On!
I couldn't agree more with the "theoldscudder's" remarks. At my age, looking back, those 45RPM singles and especially the extended play 45RPM's were my domain, period and they did sound sensational way back when. The constant rehashing or reissuing of Elvis music is just another way to make a fast buck. Remember "Electronic Reprossed Stereo" RCA tried? Now there's a throw-back!
Hi OldScudder, that's a great observation - they'll never be able to digitally remaster the memories and associations those old singles hold for you.
Jamie, I second that ! Well said Oldscudder .Always El.
And you got a color picture sleeve, shiny vinyl with a great smell all under a buck! Sound is lost on me after a while. From records to CDS was initially a big sound improvement, but really, the remastering, reissuing, etc is getting old after all these years and the there are no memories attached to any of these releases except the memory of the money you once had in your wallet.
Haha Steve, my money stays in my wallet on this one! I do not have any equipment to play vinyl and I am clueless what SACD stands for and what this would mean to my ear. Can you shed light on this Capt?
SACD is a great improvement over CD. Unfortunately to really appreciate it you need a good quality sound system. Unfortunately most of us (me included) cannot afford it. On top of that here in the UK houses are very small and there's not even space for such a sound system. Maybe in the future...
I think that I might agree with the Captain if it was in my native language :-)
Marty. If you are saying that in order to appreciate SACD fully you need an expensive sound system I agree with you. I have one or two an for the life of me I cannot tell the difference on my moderately priced system. As for size I believe you are correct if you are are referring to room size, which I think you are. SACD would not be for someone with small rooms. The size of the equipment is however something all together different. You don't need gigantic speakers etc. Enjoy the music!
Thanks for the explanation Capt. What SACD player would you recommend and what is the price range?
Capt_canary you astonish me with your knowledge on this subject ; ) .... Hey with what you have said, does that mean Dogs and Bats can hear the bits we cant hear on SACD ? ; ) ... LMAO at Gorse ! Nice to see the Stereo 57 here tho but How many times and in how many forms are we going to get Elvis Is Back !!
Many thanks for the information, Capt. I will definitely check out the mid-range players that you mention in the near future.
Do not understand the selection of 24 Karate hits.. What does this have to do with Elvis his passion for karate?..
Another boring comment of Jerome...
