Hello, it's certainly Christmas for Sony/BMG...they've started plundering the Christmas Duets album so they can re-package Elvis's seasonal recordings even more frequently than they were going to anyway, if you can believe that's possible. Pleasant, inoffensive cover but totally anachronistic to the better, 1950s material on the album.
Original cover much better.
This is hardly news. Elvis Christmas product is re-circulated through the big box stores every season. The new cover is just a ploy to get us to buy the same stuff again and again. Unsuspecting Wal-Mart shoppers will toss this in the basket along with Christmas lights and tinsel. Hopefully, none of the savvy fans on this site will be duped by the obvious attempt to rob the coin from your pocket!
Sony your a complete joke,no other artist is handled this way.
As a new fans it must be hard work to know what you have and what you dont have!!!!
Let's rape and pillage the people again. Come on Sony, just re-package the original 1957 album. This is absolute crap for the unsuspecting or unknowing.
The Classic MishMash Album!!
It's all about the money ever since 1956. So this release doesn't surprise me but I will not buy it.
Slightly surprised at the price on AmazonUK of £9.16, bit pricey. (It's $10.94 in the US) This seems to indicate this might be an import price & thus not released in the UK. Also, I was under the impression this was going to be an RCA/Legacy release. But I do like the cover!
Hello, elsewhere on this site there's news of the 1957 album being released in the Legacy series. However, the track-listing cited is the same as it is for this compilation. My best guess is that there's been a human error on one of the press releases and that the Legacy version of 'Elvis's Christmas Album' will have all the songs originally included in '57 maybe with some bait added (eg, out-takes from the Peace in the valley sessions).
I love the album cover photo of Elvis. Great pic ! But the title is misleading. Its not a "Classic Christmas album". Its a compliation of the Christmas albums.
If they get rid of the two duets from that miserably horrid Christmas duets debacle... Well, then we still just end up with another Elvis Christmas compilation. It's a nice cover.
They still reissue Sinatra and Crosby and Dean Martin "new" Christmas CDs most years. Standard operating procedure I think, so I am not bothered by this set. (Other than those two godawful duets with those two twangy country singers ruining Elvis' classic songs)
Compile it and the fools will buy it.
i have no problem them releasing more of the same compilation albums. the only reason i say that is because it might catch the eye of a young person and then he or she could help carry on the legacy for the future. as far as the duet album, no thanks! i enjoy listening to just E singing the songs.
These Christmas-songs should be modernized. Why not make an duetalbum with contemporary artists (Lady GaGa, Rihanna, DJ Tiesto for instance). That is what people would really dig...
Wonder how many fanatics will buy it because of the cover?
I don't want to hear other voices sing along with Elvis ! Please, no more, except (one day perhaps--hopefulloy) EP with his daughter's voice Lisa Marie. Imagine singing "It won't be like Christmas without yopu"....or Blue Christmas (much much better than with Underwood or McBride...please...stop that nonsense. If you absolutely have to re-mix (maybe for youngsters these days) then add some instrumental breaks but do not dootherwise. Please Sony.
