At first sight this may seem like yet another SUN anthology, but nothing could be further from the truth. Actually, this groundbreaking release focuses on the influence of SUN records on Elvis’ career after he left the label. This 2CD-set contains almost 80 tracks (!), and though there are a few Sun recording present to place the other recordings into their proper perspective (including a few real rarities like the SUN rehearsal of ‘How Do You Think I Feel’), the majority of tracks are from the early 60s to ’77. There’s cool bits of dialogue, home recordings, rehearsals, studio outtakes, live recordings…

Highlights include a neat home recording of ‘That’s All Right’, Elvis on stage talking about his 2nd record ‘Tiger Man’, a tremendous version of ‘When It Rains, It Really Pours’, Elvis receiving a Sun album from a fan, a noisy but oh so cool ‘Mystery Train’ mastered from a near-mint 78 (and not one of those lifeless ‘remastered’ versions), and much, MUCH more, all providing a fascinating new perspective on Elvis’ career. A lot of research was done for this remarkable release, and we believe that this is an important album and a logical companion to “A Boy From Tupelo” on FTD. ‘SunSational’ is attractively packaged in a deluxe 2-panel digipack with a neat booklet, which contains a great essay as well as many rare photos. Wow, this looks promising! Especially because the FTD (sun) box that costs alsmost € 100,00 is way too expensive for me. Hope I can get my copy, so i can enjoy (some) sun tracks.Way to go!

Nice but I was recently able to spend my money better Finally obtaining SUN 223 mystery Train with the msi.co stamp at a record show a tough one to find appears almost unplayed. thats money (200.00) well spent.

Elvis always took his old Sun songs serious and did good versions when he did them in concert. Trying to get to you,Thats alright mama, etc. -I wish that Elvis would of recorded Blue Moon again in 76 during Jungleroom sessions

What a total and utter rip-off! Jumping on the 'A Boy From Tupelo' bandwagon with something nobody needs - a compilation of stuff we've already got. I believe this is from the same crowd who announced the 'For God And Country' release and then binned it without explaining why. What a bunch of charmers. A sad and desperate release.

This label was a promise for the import scene. But now they are now on the same level as all the rip-off labels. Like Star,oldie but goodies, Wolf call, Shake, EFE,Collectors corner ect. They know the sun project is coming and try to make a quick buck before it will be released. A real rip-off. Thta's counts also for Elvis back.

A sad and blantant attempt to again get the die hard fans (I have to have it) to spend money on worthless product. No doubt they will succeed. Blue Moon recorded in the Jungle Room? I shudder the thought. Thank goodness it didn't happen.

Hello, collecting together the original 1950s Sun recordings with later live versions - including an informal domestic session taped in 1973, and hotel showroom performances - demonstrates a lack of understanding of why the Sun material was so special. FTD, and sometimes Sony/BMG, put out far better releases than this shambles and I won't be going anywhere near it.
