Raised2rock will release a new CD with Stax-recordings, called If You Don't Come Back, finally. It was announced quite a while ago, but it will see the light soon.
Press-release
This disc is the "lost album" of Presley imports. It has a long history and would likely never have been released if not for the many requests over the years. The version of "Loving Arms" here is worth the price of admission. Never has Elvis been so up-close and personal, as if he's singing in your living room!
The tracks have been carefully selected to retain the "Stax sound." At the time, this Elvis session was an unique blend of country, funk, gospel and rhythm & blues. It was an attempt to reach the mainstream sounds of the day, like what Elvis managed in 1969. But this time RCA was embracing the famous Stax sound.
Enjoy a prime slice of the "Stax sound"!

This is a strange one, a lot of hype presumably hoping to pick up sales on the back of some of the recent excellent releases from this era. A few things spring to mind, firstly, it mentions that the recordings are uncut yet several of the songs are listed as being edited. With regard to the promo poster with the first 500, it's just a poster because only an official release can really can a promo poster. They mention RCA embracing the Stax sound, but in reality, these sessions gave RCA many headaches from severe audio problems to Elvis eventually walking out because his microphone had been stolen. No mention is made about the origin of these mixes, were they another set of rough mixes done at the time or a more recent attempt at remixing the tracks by altering their sound on a computer. The icing on the cake is that we have "I Can Help" as a bonus track, recorded two years later and at RCA in Hollywood!
Is this one of those "con" imports?
a new label..it seems...at least i will stay tuned....not uninteresting..
Yet another effort to milk the fans and release them of their finances.
Elvis wasnt interested at these sessions, it is a known fact. Why should we be interested in yet again spending more money on them?
i got the info..that we have unedited..unfaded masters here..just like the Venus series..no fakes..
Cover says "uncut" but tracklist says "edited"....am I missing something here? Besides most tracks has a proper ending and the ones that has a fade out orginally has later been released unfaded on FTD or boots....so no need for this bootleg.
What a confusing, mixed-up press release. As clear as mud!
Playing this now....what a crap... someone has used pc software and tried to make their own unreleased cd. And it has mono sound... avoid this even if its free.
After getting this on my desk i certainly "won't be coming back" for volume 2?.......sorry but Venus are the ones to get and not this.
You've got to be pretty naive to believe that hype. "Many requests over the years" - sure.
Don't get it, I heard from my dealer that the CD isn't out yet but Next week. How can you have heard it ? sounds like BS to me. I'm looking forward to this release, I've seen it before in 2004 and ordered it, finally somebody heard my call.
After listening to this CD it was produced very simply as this: The tracks were ran through a 5.1 Surround Encoder Software It will split the wave file into 6 simulated surround tracks (2 front , 2 rear. 1 center , and a sub). The author here chose the center channel (which is only mono) and the sub and overlayed (mixed these two together) and converted the two AC3 files back to wave which can easliy be done with a program such as "Soundforge" or "Nero" with a supplied plugin. This digitally brings the vocals to the front as the Surround Encoder used will search for all bits of information that are not seperate in the stereo track of the original wave (all mono information in a stereo track) and produce this digitally to the center channel only.
Still , how can anyone talk about something which hasn't been out yet. I bet nobody can come up with an actual track from this CD. I my guess is that many who talk about didn't hear anything. The story you wrote was written on a forum. Love to hear somebody doing this test and see if it really can be done.
The mix works best on some of the uptempo tracks from "Raised On Rock", sounding more "funky" than the originals...I guess you could say it is closer to the Stax sound. The prominent bass on "Three Corn Patches" is an improvement on the original to my ears, but that's not saying a lot. Clearer vocal tracks by both Elvis and the girls make "If You Don't Come Back" and "Find Out What's Happening" worth a listen. Apart from that nothing stands out after a couple of listens.
Just heard the upload , gotta have this CD it is really awesome ! Thanks so much for the upload !!
Just because one person's dealer has not received copies yet does not mean that anybody who says they have is a liar. There is no official release date for CDs such as this because they are not official releases.
OK, what's the real story behind this release? Some have it, some don't. Just wanna know if it's a "quality" import CD and one I should look at getting. Or is it filled with fake mixes done by some bozo with his pc? If so, these are the imports to avoid!
Take any track on this CD, do a "vocal cut" in a digital sound editor and raise the resulting signal by 24-36 dB, and what you'll end up with is the *right* channel of the original stereo master. Truly a piece of junk, none of these are original mixes but it's all stuff produced on a home computer by simple digital channel manipulation. Stay away as far as possible!
Got it today, don't know what thenexte heard but surely not this cd. freekin' awesome, this beauty will have more than one spin on my player. I've been downloading some of the programs as somebody was telling on a forum. I can't manage what these guys most have done, I don't get the same results, or any fair results, I'm not an engineer. Top notch, only the photos are bit small and cover blurry. Mery christmas.
I've yet to see any of these tracks listed on Keith Flynn's sessions site. So I'm taking this CD as a "dud" release!
