Venus continues its Welcome To The Jungle series with a new volume: Never Again.
What they (Venus) say about it:
Welcome To The Jungle - Never Again is a great compilation of released and unreleased tracks recorded between February 5th through February 7th, 1976 . First you can hear Elvis vocally struggling take after take to achieve a master take on Danny Boy , then working endlessly on Never Again until the finished master is in the can, and finally wrapping it up with the pleasant ballad Love Coming Down .
No need to say again that the sound is again sensational , nothing is left out and without artificial fade outs . The out-takes are exactly like it was recorded some 34 years ago. Never Again is presented to you in a jewel standard case with a beautiful 16 page booklet.
Track list
1- Danny Boy ( Take 5 ) 1:46 ; 2- Danny Boy ( Take 6 ) 1:29 ; 3- Danny Boy ( Take 7 ) 1:40 ; 4- Danny Boy ( Take 8 ) 4:06 ; 5- Danny Boy ( Take 9 ) 4:09 ; 6- Danny Boy ( Master ) 3:59 ; 7- Never Again ( Takes 1-3 ) 2:20 ; 8- Never Again ( Take 4 ) 3:00 ; 9- Never Again ( Take 5 ) 3:07 ; 10- Never Again ( Take 6 ) 1:32 ; 11- Never Again ( Takes 7-8 ) 2:26 ; 12- Never Again ( Take 9 ) 3:00 ; 13- Never Again ( Take 10 ) 0:43 ; 14- Never Again ( Takes 11-12 ) 3:21 ; 15- Never Again ( Undubbed Master ) 2:51 ; 16- Never Again ( Master ) 2:54 ; 17- Love Coming Down ( Takes 1-2 ) 3:37 ; 18- Love Coming Down ( Take 3 ) 3:29 ; 19- Love Coming Down ( Take 4 ) 3:08 ; 20- Love Coming Down ( Undubbed Master ) 3:09 ; 21- Love Coming Down ( Master ) 3:10
Is the title a promise? :-)
So, let's forget about the FTD version of the EPBlvd album, I suppose...?
Fantastic, just what I was hoping for, a follow up to "Welcome To The Jungle". I love the completeness of these CDs, it is like being there or owning the original tapes. Surely the deluxe FTD edition of "From Elvis Presley Boulevard" will not be long in coming now.
I'm sorry to some if I sound positive about this forthcoming CD, it's because that is how I feel towards releases such as this. I'm sure that the negative comments about how this is a rip-off and that they producers are milking the fans will follow shortly, they are probably being composed as you read this!
I feel the same way as you Tony C, I love these complete session cds, bring them on Venus
No need to apologize for being positive, there are fewer and fewer happy Elvis fans these days it seems. Anytime we get more session outtakes is a good time.
I was hopeful that there would be more in this series. Can't wait to get ahold of this one. Tony - there's no need to apologize about being positive about this one. All you have to do is look at the top FTD picks and you'll see that you're not alone in your enjoyment of the jungle room sessions.
Elvis vocally struggling on a song is a positive thing? At this rate, there will 8 more of these with 3 songs apiece on them. What a bargain. I hope Lex is right and this is an aptly titled cd. Excuuse me while I pop in Praise & Blame again, a real CD!
Orion and Tony C well said i'm with you guys all the way,my copy is on it's way to me as we speak and can arrive any day now and yes there's really no need to apologize for liking this series, and i'm really not going to apologize for liking this fantastic release.. c'mon
To quote Chuck Berry, "Live as you want to live, baby." If you're happy with the series, excellent! I like the songs, no doubt of that. Hearing multiple takes, struggling, and so forth is not my thing. I'm happy with the final product and the Jungle Room Sessions from FTD, thank you very much. One thing is for sure, I wish Elvis would've had more time near the end to record "studio" albums. As these sessions prove, Elvis was fantastic!
Simply EXCELLENT 'NEWS' and i will enjoy this release tremendously!~
Will Victrola rerelease it?
Thanks for all of your kind remarks to my earlier posting, I am pleased that others eagerly await this CD and other releases from these sessions. When I said that I was sorry for being positive, I was being sarcastic towards those that are negative towards everything. On the last two occasions when I made positive remarks towards certain bootleg CDs, I was accused of working for the labels concerned and that I was just trying to boost sales! The truth of the matter is that I am just an Elvis fan, one since 1970. I know what I like and if people disagree, that's their opinion. A lot of people think that just because they don't like something it should not exist. I have no interest in Elvis dolls, so I choose to not buy them, not comment on them and let those that love them do just that.
Venus......another out of this world release and i know you have more to come!....congrats all the way and look forward to this when it drops through the door soon. Really nice to read positive comments about this release and of course it's always nice to see the usual guys/girls who don't always feel the way some of us do??.
Solitaire was a great cd and this will be too. These cds do give the feeling of being right there in the studio or in this case the Jungle Room. As for some people of this site, it is clear that Elvis sounds great as ever on these sessions. Honestly some of you act like Elvis should be censored or something. The FTD Jungle Rooms Sessions release is very high in this websites Top 40 so alot of people must agree.
great news, will order this one for sure
Just ordered mine this morning. Can't wait to receive it. I was really looking forward to FTDs release of "E.P. Blvd.", but I may never live to see that release or "Promised Land." So, a big thank you to Venus for allowing me the enjoyment of listening to Elvis' last "studio" recordings. I don't think I'm alone here, but in any case I'm looking forward to Vol. III with maybe "For the Heart" and "I'll Never Fall In Love Again." I say keep 'em coming.
Excellent news for fans ! I will definitely rush to buy this one as the others from Victrola, NL !!! Thanks to these producers we can buy already (in good quality) these missing "outtakes" that we like. Too bad if the FTD Team needs always more time...Too bad boys ! Still hopeful that FTD releases this 2010 the Speedway, KCousins & Roustabout movie outtakes. Victrola should perhaps release more of those outtakes soon. I never get tired of hearing Elvis rehearse Solitaire, My way, Danny boy a.others !
i got the first relese so a second relese will be cool in the collection..............the first relese was Excellent
Way to go Venus! You will be milking this for another year or two. My only suggestion is for you to have released only one song per cd. You could have taken some instruments out or background voices (undubbed versions) to round out the cd. look at all the extra $ you could make.
Tony C, why should you have to apologize ? No way ! Just like you and a lot of other fans I like these releases ! Gonna order my copy right now. Couldn't do it sooner, due to PC-troubles. Always El.
I am fan of the Jungle Room sessions..therefore I can`t resist...good one....until FTD appears with it....
No way that FTD will release these complete sessions! I also think that these CDs are very well made. Songs and takes are put chronologically and what reason is there to complain about a 60 minute CD? I would hate to have just part of a session on one CD and the other part on another. No this is just another wonderful release. Thanks a lot you guys from Venus, who ever you are!!!
hey john doe why did you say they wouldnt release the full sessions? you do agree that they will release most of them dont you? thats how it happens it comes out on bootleg then ftd does it,lol
10 or 20 years ago it would have been a fantastic release. But now it's only O.K. Some of the takes are already out on official releases and the rest of them will be out on FTEPB FTD sometime in the near future.
Heard this cd many times during the weekend....great release but I liked Solitaire a little better due to the moody blue track.. good sound except on track 20...that one is very poor...from Elvis among friends cd?
SnOwMan...there is no way that FEPBMT will include all takes of "never again" (14 takes including master)
Red West may have given Elvis the chance to expose his hurt on "Separate Ways", but most have overlooked the magic Elvis created when he bared his soul again on a song entitled "Love Coming Down." This CD is a fantastic release in that you get to look inside the heart and soul of the man as he wrung out evry ounce of emotion on this song. Thank you so much Venus for this release. Can't wait for the next one in the series entitled "The Last Farewell" as it contains another favorite from the jungle room: "Bitter They Are, Harder They Fall." Keep this series alive.. please !!!!
