Fans can now get the movie soundtracks, in stores and on line. And thats great. Good or bad, the movie soundtracks are a part of the wonderful Legacy of Elvis Presley.
why they put this cd again on store. we have it already on the FTD Label. So borring. As RCA was!!
Excellent news and not before time.
Glad to see the movie soundtracks coming back out on the shelves. Great news.
Certain soundtracks like the 2 above should be out there again. Certain ones like Clambake, F&J, etc . should stay hidden from the public forever. Its damaging to his legacy in my opinion and is part of the reason why the public could never take Elvis seriously as an artist in the first place. So why relive all that again? Some of these songs are atrocious. FTD is quite good enough for these to exist.
I agree that the soundtracks are catered for by FTD, but the reissue of the CD "An Evening Prayer", i believe is long over due.
It has been stated on another web site that these are from the new remasteres. So sound quality be be great. Also if Amazon does not get enough preorders, then these will be cancelled.
I'm certainly going to buy Roustabout as the sound on the Double Features version of years ago absolutely sucked. I'll probably buy VLV as Lene Reidel's mastering "blasted' all the warmth out of the masters on the FTD version. I might buy F & J. I have no need for the others.
Forgot to metion: If these are mastered by VIC Anesini these soundtracks are being released in their best sound to date. Prehaps the best we'll ever get. Glad these are being released into the general marketplace for those who want/need them. Also, a thank you to Steve V. for inviting me back to the MB.
No problem Jerry. At least if we disagree, its civil and we can have an intelligent dialog unlike some other 'fans' on this site. Welcome back!
Talking of short running albums (See the 'An Evening Prayer' correspondence) it would have been nice to have had the new "Viva Las Vegas" album including "The Climb" & the two Ann-Margaret songs "Appreciation" & " My Rival"..
How about a few outtakes then i could sell off my Ftd titles of the same name! I nned the room(never liked the oversized classic albums)and the money!
Soundtrack re-issuses. Just the masters with the bonus songs where applicable. No outtakes. Sound remasterd by Vic Anesini. I'm as happy as a kid in a candy store!
I'm happy about the soundtracks being re-released, even the awful "Clambake" soundtrack. Hey at least it'll have the bonus songs so we'll get "Guitar Man". The quality of the double features releases is so bad compared to Vic Anesini's work on the ELVIS AT THE MOVIES set and the downloads from itunes. I will be glad to have the soundtracks on their own CD and with the original artwork and bonus songs as they originally were. It's cool that they are finally doing a "Viva Las Vegas" soundtrack CD. Not all of us spring for the FTD releases. I've bought those that are essential because they can't be gotten somewhere else, such as the "Live In Memphis '74" album. Finally we had a decent mix with no canned applause and the extra songs included. Honestly with the soundboard releases, after buying a few FTD's, I've gone to downloading them as mp3's.
I'll be buying every one of these new BMG CD's. Can't wait for "Roustabout". That's one of my favorite soundtracks. By the way, I haven't had a chance to compare the Double features "Roustabout" with my vinyl, but is what was released on cd back in the 90's the actual masters from "Roustabout"? When watching the movie, I notice that what I hear in the film I would swear are different vocals sometimes than the CD. Anyone else noticed this? Or am I out of my mind? Thanks, JD
Can someone confirm Vic Anesini's involvement in these? If so, wow!
Well, even if they remix it (and Vic Anesini would be the best to do it), they could release them as double features again. Viva Las Vegas & Roustabout have been together on the first double feature release, so this would be a real hit with improved sound. Splitting it on 2 CD's is just a rip off in my eyes.
For Roustabout, the should also include "I'm a Roustabout", because then this song would be finally on the correct album, not just on "2nd to None". And to my ears the double feature masters sound not bad, so why complaining ?
