A great looking package, is it as good inside as the outside wants to make us believe?
Design
The new Show Room import label released the CD “Live in Las Vegas”; the package looks great with some good ive shots of our man and short but to-the-point liner-notes. The disc itself deserves a special mention; a nicely designed Elvis roulette-wheel.
Content
With all the recent soundboard re-issues it takes a bit getting used listening to an old fashioned audience recording. That said I have to admit that this is actually a pretty decent show. Elvis really rocks through his basic set-list with “Help Me”, Spanish Eyes” and “Let Me Be There” as the new additions to this engagement. This February 7, 1974 Midnight Show does not hold any real highlights that really stand out from the rest; it is a solid performance.
The audio quality isn’t too bad for an audience recording, Elvis’ voice is clearly audible, but it is hard to enjoy with all the great Audionics releases in mind. To be honest, it took some effort to complete the CD as I wanted to give the new “Showroom Internationale” set another spin.
Conclusion
A nice package documenting Elvis Presley’s Midnight Show as recorded live from the audience on February 7, 1974. The looks are not deceiving, fans who enjoy audience recordings will certainly enjoy this release.
