Slap af "McFairlane" label on it and every idiot will buy it - heck, at least the Elvis doll looks like Elvis !!! Slap in a pair of women's shoes, and every goddamned female fan will buy it as well ! :(
I've long hated the way Priscilla portrays herself and Elvis as the iconic couple, and herself as the grieving widow. Will we also have a set of them emerging from the courthouse where they were divorced in 1973? I think not. How about a set of Elvis and Anita Wood? Elvis and Linda Thompson? Elvis and Ginger Alden? Didn't think so. I guess I really resent the way Elvis' ex-wife has the power to exercise complete control over his image and manipulate it to suit her own selfish needs. It's like she's still bleeding him dry 35 years after their divorce.
Why is it that the lunatic fringe is catered for better than the hardcore fan? Don't bother asking EPE, they'll be too busy counting their money. I wonder how much they get from the sale of garbage like this? How can they sleep at night?
I've long since stopped worrying about this stuff. Besides this stuff is what finances the multi disc DVD sets you "hardcores" salivate over.
I've go to be honest, that is the very first Elvis doll, bust, statue or figurine I've ever seen that actually looks like Elvis.... if you only buy one three dimensional Elvis this year...
Well, at least both dolls are officially licensed and thus approved by EPE and Priscilla and both come with a Certificate of Authenticity. I wouldn't buy if they weren't and didn't ;-)
Sad to say but there is a vast majority of Elvis collectors (mostly female and elderly) that would buy this before a deluxe CD or DVD package. So even if say , Elvis On Tour was released they would opt for this product. Ive been in homes adourned by plates on the wall, blankets on the couch, statues on the mantle, but nary a dvd or cd on the audio/video shelves.
I wouldn't buy this item but, among all of my pillows, blankets, rugs, purses, lamps & coffee mugs you will find over 90 CD's & DVD's. Most of us are pretty reasonable!
"Pillows, blankets, rugs, purses, lamps, cheeseburgers, coffee mugs..." Says it all, don't it. Dearie me. And good to hear that Theo will only buy them because they are endorsed by EPE. Atta boy, Theo, keep those EPE coffers topped up and they'll soon be producing that Elvis shoe polish they've been promising for so long. Only don't go buying any of that unauthorised shoe polish - there's no profit for EPE in that. Why don't you offer to drive them about? After all, they are obviously doing such a good job of taking people like you for a ride...
Obviously there is a market for it. I cannot understand that. I rather spend my money on a cd - even if it's a bad audience recording - than buying any of this stuff. But indeed one comes across homes stacked with this stuff; their idea of being a fan is quite different.
I will donate mine to Red West so he can still be present at the wedding party..

I'd like to see elvis and cahrlie, elvis and red, elvis and sonny, elvis and lamar, elvis and joe and maybe even elvis and larry. i wouldn't buy an elvis and get-lo unless it came with a certificate of authenticity.

Harvey Alexander, I do hope you realize I was only kidding. OK, I admit to buying an Elvis pillow a long, long time ago and an Elvis mug and fridge magnet when I was at Graceland last year, but I wouldn't touch Elvis dolls or ducks with a ten foot pool. My main focus when collecting Elvis is cd's (mostly FTD), dvd's and books. The only thing I still want from EPE is a special edition of Elvis In Concert (if that ever happens). But If I have to choose I'd prefer an Elvis On Tour 3 dvd box set from Time Warner.
Will Burger King do an Elvis Burger or McDonalds do Elvis Fries, whats next.?
Steve yet again i agree, i know many fans and mostly females(no offence) they have blankets, pillows, plates, t shirts, but as for the music it seems to be secondary to them, yet they are big fans? as for on tour, dont know if it will ever happen, and Ftd is kept a secret, many many many fans have no idea a collectors label excist, ive never understood the lack of putting the word out on the Label!
