ALBUM SALES TIPS FROM RCA VICTOR

(Special album release for November 1964)

We’ve had original soundtrack recordings by Elvis in the past and we needn’t dwell on their great success, but the new “ROUSTABOUT” album is undoubtedly on of the finest we’ve had!  “It’s A Wonderful World” and “Big Love Big Heartache” are delivered smoothly to a smooth Latin-flavored accompaniment. Moist of the tunes however, are the hard-rocker variety, especially “Hard Knocks and “There’s A Brand New Day On The Horizon.” For a special gas, check out the lyrics on “Little Egypt” and “Poison Ivy League.”  We’ve got great music, a great cover, the movie tie-in, advertising and promotion support.

53 years later, FTD is pleased to announce the long awaited “Classic Album” version of “ROUSTABOUT”. Reaching #1 on Billboard in February 1965, it would Elvis’ last chart topping album until “ALOHA FROM ELVIS VIA SATELLITE” in 1973. Packaged in 7” format with a full color 16-page memorabilia booklet, it contains previously unreleased material and the recently discovered “I’m A Roustabout” track.

Yes, indeed. Been waiting for this release for years. Happier than a millionaire in a house of ill repute. Will get repeated plays. Thanks, FTD team!

Not a movie soundtrack collector, so I won't be getting this anytime soon. But far-be-it from me to can this one. Wasn't it said that most of the outtakes from these sessions don't exist ? Which is why I'm impressed with the 9 new outtakes from this movie.

I'll buy this as soon as it's available in Memphis (Graceland souvenir shop). I'm guessing that the Mono soundtrack master isn't included because Ernst might be saving it for a Roustabout book in the future. Only time will tell.

The more I look at these songs and their takes, the more susceptible I'm becoming. NOV (Overdubbed Vocal?) AO (Audio Overdub?) Anybody out there have a clue? "Roustabout"-is this the original album version and it's takes?

Interesting for me, the box from Tupelo also because I did not buy the one released a few years ago, my wish for this important year would be Elvis on tour and Elvis in concert. Good job FTD and Sony Legacy, thanks

claunath82, I certainly hope your wish comes true! Even though the FTD label doesn't have a history of commemorating or acknowledging Elvis anniversaries, I'm predicting a 2-cd set of "Elvis In Concert" from FTD for late-September or early-October to mark 40 years since the CBS-TV Special first aired on October 3, 1977. ------ I'm also predicting an "Elvis On Tour" CD box set from SONY Legacy for late-October or early-November to mark 45 years since the movie was originally released to theaters on November 1, 1972. Unlike FTD, SONY Legacy does have a history of recognizing Elvis-related anniversaries.

Sounds feasible Memphisfan, but I think Sony Legacy's release plans have already been set for the year, with another (gasp) RPO release prior to Christmas. Hope you're right though.

Thank you MemphisFan I hope you are right

I've always had a heart for this one! About time we were treated with this one too! I've always liked the film and the soundtrack album. Little Egypt, Poison Ivy, It's A Wonderful World and Big Love....are among my favs here!

Like where have these outtakes been hiding? Anyone have any information on them? I'll get this to add to the movie soundtracks collection. Kissing Cousins outtakes lurking out there too?
TheMemphisFan wrote on June 25, 2017
circleG, I have a strong feeling that Ernst has had access to the "Roustabout" title song outtakes for many years, but he's been holding back an FTD release in hopes that outtakes of the other songs would turn up. The fact that we're now getting this FTD release tells us that Ernst has given up the search.

Yes, TheMemphisFan, my thoughts exactly.
