The MxF label released Wild Tiger At The Hilton, containing the August 22, 1974 M.S. in audience recording.

Design

The design is like most regular FTDs: a bit amateurish, with the images not lined out straightly. You have to search for the date of the show, since it is only displayed on the side of the Digipack. But it is the content that counts… please let it be better.

Content

What I don’t like too much about this engagement is that Elvis was rambling a lot. Actually opening night is the only show I play regularly. Not only because it was the best show (and different), but also because of the lack of talking… I prefer the music.
See See Rider starts okay, it is not the best audience recording, but listenable. Unfortunately at the end of the song some hysteric women make it impossible to hear Elvis or the band. I Got a Woman has a sudden sound drop, but after that the quality gets to an equal level and when you get used to it, it is endurable. It’s Mdinight gets a nice treatment and as more often during this engagement, Big Boss Man is a highlight. During Fever the hysterical ladies show up again, it’s about time someone hit them with a brick or something. Love Me Tender and All Shook Up are done in the usual throwaway style. I’m Leaving is more than okay, but unfortunately near the end there is a drop again and the tape even slips. Softly As I Leave has never been my thing, because I hate that singing saw. After a rush through Hound Dog You Gave Me A Mountain gets a decent treatment. Suspicious Minds is as good as always and the one line of An Der Shonen Blaue Donau brings him an applause like no other song did?! During the intros something goes wrong with the tape again, unfortunately. One of my all-time favourites, If You Talk In Your Sleep, starts with a drop again, but the performance makes up for that. Why Me Lord gets the usual semi comic treatment and the medley Teddy Bear/ Don’t Be Cruel the is in the known rush. Help Me is not my song, but the rendition is good. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is beautiful as ever and Let Me Be There is Let Me Be There, but half way the producers switched to Dinner Show of August 24, which is in a totally different (lesser) sound quality. This spoils the whole positive feeling – even reckoning the flaws - I had so far.

Conclusion

The show is pretty good, and I enjoyed most of it. Unfortunately the flaws and the ending will make it not more than a cabinet filler. I stick with opening night if I want to hear something from this season.

The show is good...the layout is done without great efforts and NO efforts in sound improvement..just copied from the cdr floating around. The end was tagged from somewhere else and you hear it..no great efforts again..

Agreed Loesje! The women are part of it, whether we like it or not (as sometimes this is louder than Elvis).

Well i refused to buy this CD, but a friend made a copy for me. Boy am i glad i didn't buy it!. The Women screaming all the way through C.C.RIDER, I GOT A WOMAN + FEVER is enough to drive anyone insane! Unbelievably painful! When they are not screaming the performance and sound is pretty much 'ok', well until the poor quality 'edits' I simply would prefer to put a drill to my head before i ever suffer listening to THIS CD again.Audience CD's CAN be 'very good' - THIS ONE is NOT Good!

This is just an audience recording... When people buy them they have to know what they buy... We can't compare soundboard recordings with audience recordings... I know poor soundboard recordings...
