Most all diehard fans know that on June 21 there will be a special screening in the US of the Comeback Special taping.
Regal Entertainment in Denver, Colorado, is putting the show with outtakes out on selected screens that have digital projection and other advanced technology.
Regal first asked area radio stations to promote it, and those that did not Regal did not choose those theaters because of course this one time showing needs to be promoted bigtime.
Orlando, Florida, that I am close to, is one example. There are so many tourists that come here for Disney World, Epcot, Sea World, Busch Gardens, etc., that it would be an ideal place for a screening, but the local goldie oldie station TURNED DOWN the promotion of it, so Regal Entertainment went to two other cities in Florida
instead that are 4 hours away from me.
This is insane that certain radio stations won't promote this very special show!
I also contacted Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando, and because they have their own theater they cannot promote another theater. I saw the Comeback Special when it was first
televised in '68 on my regular size TV set It wasn't of course called the Comeback Special at the time; it was just "Elvis" and because it was right before Christmas, it was promoted as a Christmas special.
Well, everyone was blown away when instead of seeing him start a show like Frank Sinatra singing some Christmas song in a traditional style, can you imagine suddenly seeing that closeup shot of his face and those intense eyes and hearing, "If you're looking for trouble, just look right in my face..."
That was on a small TV set. What a thrill it would be to see that on the big screen finally!
Somehow we need to get the word out FAST that ANY Regal and United Artists theaters worldwide that have digital projection and whatever else is needed to run this special film and also find a radio station in the area that will promote it should contact Regal Entertainment in Denver,
Colorado, and DEMAND MORE SHOWINGS !

Everyone needs to spread the word on this and contact EPE and Regal Entertainment....again, the theater has to have
capability for satellite feed, and only those listed had radio stations willing to promote the screening. You need to check with whichever Regal United Artists Theater that you want to have the screening in to see if they have satellite feed and also you need to call local radio stations to see if any of them would promote it on air. It is not available overseas, but hey, Aloha was a major satellite feed....they should be able to do it overseas, but they probably don't want to spend the money to connect other countries to the satellite. Shame. Todd Morgan wrote me that all the theaters have been "locked in" for quite some time now and he was unaware that any US theaters with satellite feed were not screening it. Now he is aware, but he is not one to change the schedule.

Ok, just found out that they are not using satellite feed, but I guess it is just the digital projection...don't know exactly. Most theaters don't have the technology anyway. We need to complain about this limited viewing, and although I wanted to have this article on the homepage, elvisnews.com is obviously not supporting the issue, probably because it is just being shown in the U. S. I agree this should be shown around the world the way Aloha was ! Seems we can't do anything about it.

Im so sorry that some stations are refusing to do a promotion. With this being the 50th anniv of the King, you would think some respect were in order. If there is anything you want me to do, let me know, and I will be glad to help..

Hi TCBTLC, The satelite is for the 50th anniv of 'That's alriight', not the DVD's special screening. The BBC is already signed on for the big day. Don't forget, July the 5th 2004, at 12noon Eastern time zone. Spread the word...

Of course, every Elvis fan would love to see a cinema size screening of this incredible film. The 'Comeback Special' IMO was just what we needed in the late sixties, a powerful and exciting performance by 'The King'. I see that Memphis is not on the screening list, how disappointing, it should be there, right at the top. Hopefully, we in the UK will see it one day. Happy listening.

Basically, it is comprised of: Black Leather Sit-Down Show #1, a taste of Black Leather Sit-Down Show #2, most of Black Leather Stand-Up Show #1, a special montage of funny moments with Elvis throughout the ’68 footage, and the special new If I Can Dream music video. At the end, there is a collection of clips to promote the new Aloha from Hawaii DVD set. If you are a new fan and do not understand what this material is, please see our posting of the detailed liner notes for the DVD sets.
At some point, the “funny moments with Elvis” montage will be posted as a streaming video here on Elvis.com for your enjoyment. That montage is not on the DVD set. It was put together for the screening event. Of course, all the footage it’s made from can be found throughout the DVD set.
Why does this event not include more cities? Why not include Memphis? The screening event is a deal BMG in America did exclusively with Regal Theatres.
