Rock And Blues

By ElvisNews.com/ Lex, August 07, 2007 | Music
The third in a row of audience recordings I had to review this week is a CD with a show of my favourite post 1970 Vegas engagement, SR Records’ “Rock And Blues”.

Design

A nice shot of our man decorates the front. It’s nice they chose “our” colours for the fonts, but unfortunately the characters upon the picture get a bit messy. The 16 page booklet exists of merely (unfortunately) unclear pictures, but there are some great actions shots between them. The texts are a bit messy with all the different fonts, styles and directions.
The CD itself is a picture CD with a nice shot on it. The inlay and back are – again – messy with different font colours, and “decorated” pictures.

Content

One word (made up, but you’ll understand what I mean): unlistenable! The speed is going from too slow to too fast and vice versa, in other words the source tape was broken (or the recorder). I skipped a track or 5 to check if there was any improvement, but no way. I didn’t feel the need for a headache, so I turned it off without further listening. So no February 6 M.S. for me.

Conclusion

Save your money for something worthy.

Beautiful and tasteful cover....

Thanks for the warning. In an age when digital mastering is available to most people with a computer, there is no excuse for sloppy releases like this. Tape speeds can be easily corrected, and should be. I like the cover though.

Well Lex, you are 200 % right, and i think you have been very ,very polite when you wrote your review. This CD is a disgrace, a real shame, disgusting sound-quality .How on earth dare the people behind this release such crap. This is more than a ripp-of, this is unbelievable bad stuff. The pictures in the booklet ( with a couple of exceptions ) are very bad too. I'll keep the empty jewel-case ( it's the only good object ) and throw the rest away. A pure waste of money ( and it was not a cheap purchase, I can assure you ). In future I'll wait for the reviews on this website before buying audience recordings, or maybe even better :It's very possible that I'll stop purchasing audience recordings. Guys , stay away from this sh..t Always El

benny scott: I see your point. This is big problem actually, with all such awful crap released, GOOD audience recorded CDs with good design will get less attention. If such bad CD will be my first audience recording purchase, then I will buy no more, this si sure. If my first one will be Kicking And Rolling, Adios, Bright Midnight With Elvis or other goodies, then I will have different opinion too.

Hi wayup, You may have a point there. So I'll take my chances in the future, but only when a review tells me when an ( interesting ) audience-recording is OK soundquality-wise. Always El

benny scott: I guess the best way is to get soundsample somewhere.... I am pretty tired of many recent CDs...also I sold almost all bad sounding boots from my collection... why to keep the crap when I have hardly any time to listen the good ones?
