Live From Las Vegas March 30, 1975

March 04, 2006 | Music
Released by the IF label is the second concert (audience) recording in what appears to be a live series. Together with this album the label released another live concert from Indiana.

Design

The design has the exact same setup as their release “Live From Fort Wayne Indiana”, but now with blue as the main color. According to a readers reaction the design is “a copy of the Live From Texas series by New West Records, that issues TV shows by a lot of artists from Austin City Limits.. As with the previous release the four pictures are well chosen, but we miss the liner notes to really complete this information.

Content

Elvis is in an upbeat mood on this Sunday concert from March 30, 1975, although he apologies to the audience for the bit lame opening being not 100 percent because of the exciting night he had. But he makes up for that during the show. For the remainder of the show he is very talkative and takes time for the fans, but in an entertaining way. Elvis was in higher spirits this day, and it showed. He had fun on stage, with his band and the audience. One enthusiastic girl tried to get on stage, throwing herself from a table, but landed a table further. Elvis refers to the latter during this show (making this the second show that day).

The show is a nice one; good versions of “Big Boss Man” and “Burning Love”. Ronnie Tutt goes wild during the introductions and they end with a good blues jam (upon Elvis' request) when unfortunately the tape ends and breaks into “How Great Thou Art” near the finale of the performance with Elvis blowing out his lungs. After a rocking – yet not special – version of “Hound Dog” which is received with a lot of enthusiasm by the audience we get a good and a personally dedicated version of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”.

Conclusion

A very enjoyable show; unfortunately taken from a less enjoyable audience recording. Ernst, if you have this one stacked away in better quality, give it a thought for your “Follow That Dream” label.

Yes...it`s a good show..worthwhile at any time. Rumour has it that My Boy was sung before How Great Thou Art (remember the cut..??)

I remember getting this show bootleg Vinyl 20 years ago!. obviously it's the Dinner Show from this day, but 'incomplete' as someone HAD to turn their C-60 cassette tape over and missed a song and a bit of another. nice show though pity it's incomplete.

This concert fits very well in the released one from Follow that drem or other labels with concert from this Vegas period. Elvis is a little puffy but he brings good shows at this time and is talk active and that says he is in a fine and funny mood. I want more from that engagement ! Maybe an other Follow that dream release ?
