Like A Prince Of Another Planet

March 19, 2005 | Book
Another concert photo book, not from another planet, but from Luxembourg.

Design

The design is plain, but fitting for a book like this. Just photos with (if available) a little remark about date and place. The print quality is okay. Unfortunately the book reached us quite damaged, since it has a soft cover.

Content

After a picture of Elvis leaving the Lisa Marie, four pictures of the Long Beach gig in November 1972 open the concert section of the book, which lasts to the last page (72).

To each his own, but those four are the best pictures in the book, not quality wise maybe, but for sure content wise. The remaining has little to do with the book title, taken from a review of the Madison Square Garden shows. Maybe a variety like “Like A Prince On Another Planet” (that was made up in the newsreactions on our site) or even “Like A Muppet From Another Planet” would fit the main content better.

There are a few decent pictures from 1974 and 1975, but more than two third of the book is post 1975, and that is certainly not our taste. Many of the pictures look familiar to us, but there are some “new” or at least more rare ones.

Conclusion

A book someone who is not totally into concert pictures can easily miss, and those who are won’t see much new material.

Thanks to Elvis Unlimited for providing us a review copy. The book is available on this planet, you can order it from Elvis Unlimited.

As being an Elvis fan, I feel offended by comments like "Elvis didn't look so good after 1975, etc" - it's not like jumping on a bicycle without a saddle, but it HURTS! Elvis was still good looking in 1976 and 1977, if you ask me - he still retained the charming, generous and charismatic character despite the health problems.

Well, I'd rather jump on a bike without a saddle than watching too much of those years. Of course he could be charming and still was charismatic, but it hurts to see how he destroyed himself so quickly.
